As a native English speaker, one of my favourite things about the PR community is how international it is, and all the colourful accents and people

Is there a good Mandarin infantry phrasebook? I would like to practice Mandarin on the Chinese servers.

You can join my squad! Usually I am a SL in chinese server, and most of my squad memberscan speak more or less English!
Talk about chinese server? There is only one so far, it's name SAGA.
It's getting full in PRT 11:00 and during 11:00 to 13:00, there will be some excellent rounds.(9:00 Start to seed.) You may join in that time.
If you are interested in joining my squad, you can PM me and leave ur contact, so we can join in at the same time and avoid to kick you out of squad.
Cheers!
Jolly, you such a retard.

I don't think hearing the phrase 'reverse the shield polarity' is going to help much with learning EnglishVicious302 wrote:Have you watched any star trek yet?! Impecable english!

The example you gave, of saying "enemy on me" instead of "enemy in front of me" is certainly acceptable. I often say the former, although I use substitute "Walmarx" in place of "me". In the heat of combat, with the enemy danger close, you have a very small window to act, and gain the upper hand. That window can be passed if you are busy scouring your squad map to gather your grid ref. If you tell your squad mates your name, and that the enemy are "on you", it means within roughly 20 meters. They can then find you on the map, and move to assist.
I have worked with a multitude of international players, and I often enjoy it. Maybe I just have an ear for it, but I rarely have any trouble discerning the message a player is trying to get across (excepting poor microphone quality). Furthermore, I am outraged when a native english speaker criticizes those who arent, and if I am leading the squad, they are promptly kicked for their ignorance. English is, by most standards, the most complex language on earth. So there is no need to feel self-conscious about your english, as others have said, you will learn quickly!
Oh, and I just wanted to say, I love your enthusiasm Jolly!

Re: Language is a huge problem...
Thanks to PR my english have improven alot faster orally over the years. Here in Sweden the school system have a high english standard and it is almost expected that a pupil should know english fluedly. On the other hand the media is always in it's original language. So for example simpsons are in english with swedish subtitels. But I've never had to communicate in a so complex way so often like PR. It's great practice and after you played for some time you feel that your english have developed a lot.
I've noticed alot that all players that have played PR for a good amount of time are good at english. So the longer someone play PR the better english! In Sweden we state that all French, German, Italian and Spanish (and probaly all from balkan aswell) But that is not the case in PR. Of course you can hear the accent and pretty easily guess what country he is from but it's very rare to not understand or communicate with your fellow sqaud members. I accually have the hardest time to understand Brits with a heavy dialect.
Im also impressed with the Players here that speak English as their first-hand language. They have alot of patience and often guide unskilled Englishspeakers.
Thanks PR community! You rock!

I always feel embarrassed when I'm in a squad and everybody's speaking near-perfect English, despite it being either their second or third language, and I can't speak a word of anything other than English (a little French, maybe).

Compared to german grammar, english grammar is not that complex, and easier to master. Can't wait to go to 'merica a few months to improve my english skillsWalmarx wrote: I have worked with a multitude of international players, and I often enjoy it.
