Looks nice. Dice's model was kind of shitty, this im sure will be much appreciated by the DEVs.

Both MEC and RUS should be using them, along with militia sparsely, and perhaps later the africans and polish. Would fit on many maps quite nicely, I think.

Make sure you include a 30mm nose gun :3

28500 tris is far, far too many. If you break 10000 you're probably looking at a problem.

A big way you can solve this is by separating the inner model (1p) and outer model (3p).

I'm guessing your internals are very highly detailed. Make a lower polygon version for your 3p view and you'll save a lot of tris. Keep the highly detailed internals for your 1st person perspective model.

The wheels don't need as much detail.

Finally, I somehow doubt that you'll be able to just offload it to someone else when you're happy with the model...

Unless you get a volunteer, community modding projects like this involve you (community members) from start to finish. The devs generally have enough on their plate without being thrown models in the wrong formats (non .max files from 3dsMax 9).

I have no doubt your efforts are appreciated but to get it in-game will be quite a process from this point forward.

I see you modeled the interior as well. I personally feel that is unnecessary. If this would indeed be a chopper used by PR, I see it primarily used for CAS support as an attack helicopter. I know that this chopper has transport capabilities, but combining both transport and CAS is I believe something that doesn't fit into PR.

I would go for a nice 3rd person and a 1person interior of the cockpit.
But like pyrus said, the sad thing about a lot of great models is that there is nobody to UV,texture and code them.

But keep it up!! I lead the Syrian Minimod development and right now we are using the Mi-24(b) that comes from BF2. It is not a bad model but having this custom one would be so much better.

I thought somebody had already started working on a Hind for PR. Guess I was wrong.

It looks great, but way to many tris, as already mentioned.

Epic model imo. Those rivets in the cockpit though, wont they slow stuff down. Seems like that would be better on performance if the rivets were on the texture.

I can't see where all of thous 28500 tris have gone myself...

EDIT: said that before I looked at the rear interior shots... All thous rivers are best done in the texture, mainly with the normal map.. most of the other details you don't need, at least not in the 3p model.

Got quite a few Hinds to pick from when you think how many are in BF2, a few are part of BSS mods which we wouldn't have much trobble getting permission to use and you pick the very worst model that DICE made? :p

I like this model and I hope it will be used in PR
one day,hope in near future.
I have always wondered why there is no Mi-24 in PR
but it seems that they really didn't needed one.
Russia uses Mi-28 same as MEC (Algeria brought some recently so there is no need for their replacement from MEC side),
but it seems that they will find use on Polish and African side.
There is upcoming 4km all assets map for Polish forces.
Also AU can really find good use of it,
Hind is widespread in Sub Saharan African Armies,
and have been used to support AUs peacekeeping mission in Somalia in real life.

This version currently in biggest quantities in Russan Army and Air Forces.(Mi-24P,stationary 300 cannon,6 pylons)

Mec may USE Mi-24VM(23mm rotating cannon,4 pylons,tail rotor from Mi-28,New Optics)
Mi-24B(Current) uses by any kind of OPFOR,in some quantities in Russia.

Also Mi24VP is interesting version(6 pylons,23mm rotating cannon),but they been maked at end of production.Created in very very small quantities.

samogon interesting read, but please do post sources next time, even if they are in russian it makes it alot easier to rely on your info.

Seems like everybody is doing the most interesting version when it comes to modelling one, huh? :)

Also, do you have any info on Havoc/Mi-24 numbers in Russian army or air force? which one is more common?

Ground forces aviation doesn't exist,most units came to air forces since 2003 year(Source - wiki,linked to many russian newspaper cuts.)

Look at table in lower link(columns: mark-quantity - overal quantity):

Mi-24P/Mi-24PN/Mi-24-VP-M

From same table:
Mi-28N - 53 - 53
Mi35M - 12(For tests probably)

See - no clue for Mi24B/D/V.

The rivets can be painted, and with good normals it will look like the rivets are there :p . I'd suggest for the optimized model for ingame the rivets should be removed, will save a lot of resources.

I think his point is that whole model is ~28k tris, if he removes 1k, it will still be 27k tris...
