Problem is, you can't "check" if someone gave up. Usually you would look at/examine the guy and give him some more bullets (rather common in pr:arma). Without the killcounter, you would actually have to wait full 5 minutes next to every killed player, to be sure. Don't like the idea without any "examine body" option.Arnoldio wrote:All kill counter does is it shows you, that they gave up, without you checking

Re: Remove the kill counter?
Instead of showing the Kills and Deaths, simply show the players effectiveness (in terms of K/D) in percentage, meaning that if you killed the same amount that you died, you would have 50%.
This still allows a player to check if he's dying too much or not but without showing amount of kills that prevents that being the main focus.
90% of PR players have no clue what survival is all about and play the game based on the ability to respawn. This game shouldn't be about the kills but about the deaths and since we can't have one without the other in terms of tickets and most players don't even care about tickets anyway, percentage in K/D would be a great tool.

just show them at the end of the round... that'd work perfectly

Onil that idea you made is excellent
during the round you see percent and when the round is over you see the entire score board without percent and have the KD ratio.

Can we have the deaths column? I suspect there are some people who are costing the team more tickets than they need to be.
Sometimes that person is me.

Maybe you go there, check and secure the area, if you're defending, then hold it, if youre advancing, advance in the desired direction and enemies should magically slip past and revive the guys behind.Predator.v2 wrote:Problem is, you can't "check" if someone gave up. Your point about checking is valid though. Maybe a choughing effect should be played for the whole time someone is wounded.

Frags, and various explosive rounds will finish of wounded soldiers in PR. Bullets, I have yet to test, but they probably do. Further still, introducing a mechanic that allows you to finish off a wounded soldier is doable.Predator.v2 wrote:Problem is, you can't "check" if someone gave up. I think the scoreboard should be far less telling in general in fact. Knowing how many enemies died as a result of an attack, or whether or not you're getting kills with mortars is fucking stupid, anyways.

Is it possible to add a delay to the kills/deaths/score appearing on the scoreboard? Basically a delay to the scoreboard updating altogether.

Re: Remove the kill counter?
something like this is a start for sure. I will supplement my argument for a less telling scoreboard with an anecdote here. Yesterday I was playing on kokan. I was building mortars with another player in a compound near the north east end of the map. I was on a roof looking out for contacts, and I saw an spg techi approach rolling through the desert south east of us. Unfortunately it was obvious he had spotted me before I could jump down. I warned my squad mate who was digging that the techi could shoot into our compound from the hill to the east, but he was confident he would be safe. The techi fired, and killed him, and I lived. The techi had spotted only me. What crossed my mind was that, he had only seen one man, and when he fired one name went grey, thus if I laid low, he may just drive off. Now, he probably didnt check the board, however, the fact that he could have affected my way of playing the game, and it may have affected his. If there was no scoreboard he may fired multiple times, or gotten a little closer to try and take me out on foot. However, he simply drove off.Stealthgato wrote:Is it possible to add a delay to the kills/deaths/score appearing on the scoreboard? Basically a delay to the scoreboard updating altogether.
To me, this is all just meta-bullshit, and detracts from any semblance of being a "warsim". Its just something we shouldnt know.
Same game too, slappy and I dropped the JDAM on one of their caches, and we literally wiped all their team but 4 men. Of course we knew this due to the scoreboard, and went into the cache with utter confidence. Should there have been no scoreboard, the game would have been much different.

Re: Remove the kill counter?
Exactly. You can figure out what assets certain people use judging by the scoreboard, and when that goes grey, that asset is down, and yu know it before the team even tells you. Not to mention operating the mortars is also exploitable. Not only there doesnt have to be any eyes on the target, you can also see your score rising incase youre hitting anything. If not, just readjust and try until you start getting score.

Always funny to shoot the Kiowa on Ramiel and have it fly off, smoking.. And watch the scoreboard with your fingers crossed hoping the guy with 50 kills goes grey soon

Re: Remove the kill counter?
I haven't been playing the mod for a long time. Or even bf2 for that matter.
So I don't have quite an idea of how much I or anyone else would "misuse" the scoreboard. If people on average use it too much it would detract from the realism you've been trying hard to achieve.
On the other hand... It is still a game. Eg. not being used by xyz army to let the soldiers learn city zyx top to bottom.
And in a game it's nice to be able to atleast somewhat track your own performance from round to round.
Kills and deaths is a part of that, though I would prefer an accuracy tracker.
I think displaying the stats at the end of round only would be a decent compromise between the two.

The kills and deaths score should work on a lottery system; usually you lose but occasionally you hear of someone ending a round with 8,000,000 kills.
Worthy of a screenshot, even.

I definanatly agree everyone's been in a situation like that before and i think a delay is the way to go. Also at round end it should show a few extra stats like accuracy etc. so people can improve there gameplay.40mmrain wrote:something like this is a start for sure. Delay is just a band-aid for your guilt. PR is now BF3 lite.
Good job PR community, you have evolved.

Man, would be more fun to move in and confirm those kills instead of watching your scoreboard. It's project reality, in real life you can't open some magic table on your eyes and see what have you killed, what not.

Damn straight but still at round end you should still get to see your score so you know how good you are. and there definitely needs to be accuracy stats as well.iSmall wrote:Man, would be more fun to move in and confirm those kills instead of watching your scoreboard.
