PunkBuster Windows API Error

Post by reozm »

I'm getting that old Windows 7 error for PunkBuster. It's only for Project Reality; it works fine for Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad, Battlefield 3, and Blacklight Retribution.

I've already tried stopping Microsoft Security Essentials's Real-Time Protection, and tried the fixes with compatability mode and run as administrator. I've also updated PunkBuster to the latest version.

Anyone have any solutions I might try?

No one has any suggestions for this problem?

All of our operators are busy at the moment - your call is important to us, and we appreciate your patience :)

When you say it's only a problem with PR and list a bunch of unassociated programs... Can you confirm that the problem exists with vBF2?

Can you be more descriptive about what message you are receiving?

There's not much else besides an exact error number. But I figured it out.

Apparently Punkbuster, only for Project Reality for some reason and not any other game, conflicts with Lenovo's Onekey Theater (default software for quickly changing screen contrast/audio levels between movies, videos, music, and normal levels).

The reason I listed the "unassociated" programs is because they all use Punkbuster
