5 very short suggestions
Recoil - Sniper Rifle
Of all the weapons, the sniper rifle has the largest and most powerful round. Therefor its recoil should be extreme. yet... it is not. You can shoot someone 300 yards away, adjust for the recoil, then shoot again faster than you can do at 50 yards away with an AK/M16. and the fact that you can almost hold the sniper rifle perfectly still.... is retarded.
Tracers
m16's and AK47's dont use tracers!!! they must be removed!
Weapon Power/Speed
the AK shoots too slow. a M1 Garand can shoot faster than it.
transition speed -- This is a big issue
When i say transition speed, i mean the transition from running a full sprint, to laying on the ground with iron sights up, hitting a target 100 yards away. Currently in PR, or in BF2, this takes about 0.2 seconds. there is no way in hell this could realistically happen. PLEASE slow down the time it takes to go prone, and the time it takes to stop sprinting and bring up the iron sights. If not, then i'll just assume that the soldiers are all breakdancers that can jump off the ground and lay down very quickly.
Night Maps -- lighting
Im loving the light maps. But im hating the lighting. I see street lamps, but the ground under/around them is pitch black. I guess they're just black-lights. but that should me soldiers glow.
**UPDATED**
Getting shot -- no big deal?
It seems that a few rifle rounds to the chest doesnt seem to bother infantry. I think if someone gets shot, they wouldnt be able to shoot as well, or see or run as well for that manner. Atleast for a few seconds. I think if i got shot in the chest 2 times, i wouldnt be able to swing around a unload a clip to the other guy and kill him. So why not implement the Blur affect that you get when you're near an explosion, in so you get that affect when you get shot. to make it more... realistic.

sniper recoil: been tweaked in v0.4
tracers: you are misinformed, pretty much any weapon can and does fire tracer rounds
rof: engine limitations can't get us to the real world raf, but we are as close as we can get it
transition speeds: most of this is hardcoded, in general we have reduced the soldier speed from BF2, but it's a global setting and we can't tweak it on action specific stuff
nightmaps: was a quick hack I did to see how it would go, actually mapping for night maps requires some different lighting approaches which were not done with the quick hack and I'm not sure if any mappers will take up the night map torch

Turn dynamic lights to MEDIUM if you have them on high. This solves the problem, is you are talking about big black squares on everything.
Someone correct me if its not dynamic lights, but there is an easy fix.

I can also add that you're misinformed in the sniper-recoil thing. The sniper rifles used in PRMM (thus far) use only 7.62mm rounds (0.30zcmrfrodo wrote:Recoil - Sniper Rifle

I have only shot a 30-06 and whatever round is used in the M1A1. As long as I had enough pressure with the stock of the rifle to my shoulder the kick was not that bad (First time shooting the 30-06 I did not have enough and ended up with the rifle pointing straight up and a very sore shoulder. Heh was 14 at the time.) And I was shooting unbraced from a standing position. A sniper kneeling or prone will have even greater control and the rifles have the weight spread out better than an assault rifle so recoil is more controlled.

I know. The sniper rifles were tweaked for this release. I just needed to proove that the sniper rifles don't need to become anti-aircraft weapons after ~3 consecutive shots.Hawk_345 wrote:Yeah, the .50 cal is amazingly low recoil due to its designe, the recoil is spread throught the rifle reducing its recoil about 40 or 70% if i recall, sor eally the recoil is prety good right now, but alittle tweeking is in order i think.
Making things more difficult to do doesn't always mean more realistic. There're many things that can be fairly easy to do and they're still realistic.

I'm sorry to dissapoint you but the BF2 AT rockets for the USA is the wire guided system called the SRAW which is not as powerful as the Javelin, in fact no AT system is as good as the Javelin at this time. I think DICE made up the SRAW for gameplay purposes.zcmrfrodo wrote:ok cool
I've got another thing to discuess: Anti-Tank
Im pretty sure the Javelin is a 1-hit kill weapon, no matter where on the tank you shoot it. thats how it is in AA :O . So how about givin the AT only 1 shot, but it be a 1-hit kill?
Welcome to the forums.

Man, you think this is the Gulf War don't you? There is no Iraq team, go play USI for that. The team in BF2 (and PR) is called the MEC. And the Javelin is not on the MEC team, nor is it on the Chinese team, that's called an Eryx, which is in fact, a French weapon.zcmrfrodo wrote:yea... but isnt the javelin a U.S. weapon? why the hell is in on the Iraq team? thats just stupid. whatever. i just think it would be better to have a 1 rocket, 1 hit kill system. and limit 1 per squad.

it´s eryx but it´s a system build by eads, mainly used by europeans (and turkey). dice was to lazy to make 3 different rocket-launcher, with more than one actually fitting the party it uses

Oh it is a real weapon? I must have been mistaken because everytime I look for it on the internet whatever that always pops up is a site that has something to do with BF2... Oh and if I sounded sarcastic I'm sorry 'cause I didn't mean too.Garabaldi wrote:The SRAW (Short-Range Assault Weapon) is infact real, unless I have misunderstood your post.
Edit: Watershed the Eryx I believe is a French TOW missile system not a Russian made one... So thats why I don't get why China and MEC has them.
Here is an informational linky! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ERYX
DICE also didn't do there research, the Eryx isn't employed by China or any MIdle Eastern countries. And yes the Javelin is a US AT system and its curently the most powerful one in the world, with the ability to take out any MBT in the world at this time.
Edit Edit: I believe DICE and I were wrong about the SRAW! It is not a wire guided AT system it is Top-Attack Fire and Forget AT system, I've been wrong ever since the begining, DICE needs to do more research on there games!

If you read into the Barrett (and the like) you will find that it is a anti-material rifle. Which means anything with less than 1/2 inch of steel plating is going to take damage.
.50 cal rounds striking critical areas of any aircraft will take it down, this includes the cockpit. Could never figure out why you cannot shoot the pilot out of it. Eh another BF2 engine issue.
I have not clue why when a Helo or jet can just shrug off the M2HB .50 cal MG in the game. The weapon is way nerfed in all the Battlefield series and in several mods.
Tracers: Thats and optional thing I never had anyone tell me in the army that I had to shoot tracers. Ammo comes 4+1 linked (MGs) so you can do what you want to it. Tracers also give you away. The only place you should see them is in night maps.
Sniper rifles: Guy I do not know where you get your info from but every weapon shoot differently. The Sniper rifles have a very manageable kick and it's nothing to even worry about. I've posted videos and others have posted videos on this. It is 100% possible to fire and cycle the action of the weapon without loosing sight picture.

what about being able to hold the rifle soo still? maybe the recoil isnt that bad, but it sure isnt easy to keep a fine point on an object far away. especially when you're standing up. and after you've just been sprinting...zcmrfrodo wrote:Recoil - Sniper Rifle
