After installing drivers for GTX 570 HD DS, my computer crashes after logging in.

Post by tactical_fox »

TL;DR - Built new computer. After installing drivers for GTX 570 HD DS, my computer crashed almost instantly following logging into the desktop. (First post ever.)

I just built my first computer and everything looked like it was going smoothly. I didn't have any issues, until I installed the drivers for my graphics card and... well things started to give me a headache.
Here's my list:

Mobo - Asus p8z77-v
PS - Cooler Master GX - 750W 80 PLUS Bronze
OS - Windows 7 64bit
SSD - SAMSUNG 830 Series 2.5-Inch 128GB
RAM - Corsair Vengeance Blue 8 GB
GPU - EVGA GeForce GTX 570 HD Double Shot 1280 MB

So here's whats happening. I install the drivers that came with the graphics card. (I know I can update them but i had no such luck with updated versions. Same issue occurred.) After it installs it has to reboot so my computer reboots and loads to the log in screen. I enter in my password and it either loads to my desktop or just freezes.
After i get to my desktop, I see some red lines/blocks and are red pixels scattered about in the pictures and a windows may pop up saying a driver failure. It then blinks black and back to desktop before, sometimes, showing a blue screen, and than rebooting. I than uninstall the driver in safe mode and i'm back to square one. (My computer recognizes the graphics card if that helps.)

So, I don't know where to go from here. :? ??:

Can anyone help me out with this issue who has built computers before and may have encountered this problem? Like I said, i'm a novice and often, I won't understand computer jargon.

In the mean time i'll be looking to see if any other members have had similar problems. Maybe the fix lies there. If you know of someone who had a similar problem and it was answered, link me.

Thanks.

Did you already do this:
your thread on EVGA forum wrote:That is the issue that is caused by having the bad Firmware loaded on the card. PM Jacob here on the forums or start an EVGA Tech Support ticket and ask them for the New Firmware Update for your card that fixes the incompatible RAM issues.
Have you Let WIN7 update the driver instead of manual updating?

Check the Event Viewer and see if it captured what the problem is, or has an error code:

What version of Win7 do you have? Home, Pro, Ultimate, etc?

You have to go through the trouble shooting matrix
Start with the easy stuff.

1. Mobo PCIeX slot failure?
2. GPU failure?
3. Driver failure?
4. PSU failure?

Always shut PC and remove power cord, ground yourself before working inside PCs.

1. Check the physical seating of your GPU. Check for dust, hair, etc in PCIEX Check power cable connecting to GPU
reboot, try.
shutdown, pull cord, ground yourself again,

2. remove GPU, move GPU into the 2nd PCieX slot.
plug in GPU, plug in PC, boot, try.

3. physically remove the GPU. Connect monitor to onboard video connector.
4. boot, download newest Nvidia drivers, download DriverFusion, Driver Fusion - The Complete Driver Solution completely uninstall the NVidia drivers using DriverFusion.
Disable New HArdware Wizard follow this tutorial:
Disable Windows Update Device Driver Search Prompt In Windows 7 / Vista
shutdown. reboot with monitor connected to onboard video, install new NVidia drivers.

5. Your mobo comes with Asus AI Suite II, which has PSU monitoring, I suggest downloading and installing either the AI Suite II or CPU HWMonitor to see if your PSU is the problem.
