Beginner help
hello guys, got some questions. I have been playing PR for about 1 year now, only in singleplayer tho. I tried joining a server when i didn't know that much about the game, but i got kicked and banned cuz I didnt know how to use helicopter at the time. I think you should have some info on the loading screen saying like" Help PR-community grow by being friendly and helping new players instead of instant banning them"(just a side note. Got pretty pissed, this is a great mod and it would be a shame if it never gets big because of ignorant players thinking all new players are idiots.). My questions are:
1. Is it possible to get unbanned again, now that i know how to use all vehicles etc. Kinda sux that there are about 2 servers with ppl playing and i got banned from both.
2. Will there be more singleplayer maps since it looks like I will never be able to play real tactical games online.
3. Are there really 2 public servers only? Read somewhere that there is over 6000 active players, can't seem to find them.
Have a nice day!

Hi and welcome. Many servers have asset wasting rules. I suspect your ban is only a temp ban - i.e; the duration of the round - but it may not be...
In answer to your questions.
1. To get unbanned from the server you are currently banned on you will need to visit their community forums (if it is in fact a ban not a temp ban).
2. Never is a long time... Try to harden up a bit
3. No. On the menu bar, click on PRSPY - this will display the servers that have active players on them in real time.
Hope you have a nice day too

Re: Beginner help
Hello my fellow swedish brother!
1. Yes it is, but that depends on your matureness and ability to contact the server admins. Find the homepage of the Clan that was hosting the server you were banned from.
2. I can't anwser to that but I recommend you to play multiplayer instead of singleplayer. It's more fun, more teamwork and a lot more giving. I'll give you some tips after I've anwsered your questions
3. No? There is not just 2 servers up currently? There's a lot of different servers to choose from. [CIA], *NwA*, PRTA, =MeRk=, pr1, pelitutka, =HOG= and alot more.
Tips
Don't drive any veichles if you haven't played online before. Never ever.... Join a infantry squad and ask the Squad leader what kit to take and what you are supposed to do. Make sure you got mumble and a good headset. Proper communication is the key to be a good PR player. Follow the Squadlead and do what he asks for. Don't fool around and make sure you don't break the rules. Any admin can happily inform you about the rules. And please! Read the PR manual.
Think before you do anything. Are you really supposed to fly this helicopter?
If you stay in a infantry squad you have the smallest chance to sabotage for your team and there is less chance to be banned/kicked

Re: Beginner help
An online round of PR is a lot more complex than playing singleplayer, and requires an entirely different mindset. Just taking a random helicopter is likely going to get you kicked because:
- That thing is extremely "expensive". Losing it makes the team lose a lot of tickets and brings them closer to losing the round
- That thing is extremely important. If it isn't used effectively, troops will not get to the front lines without delay and the other team will overpower yours - pilots, especially on maps with aircraft carriers, have extremely important roles and therefore, the most skilled one should take over. There is ways to practice flying and start as a passenger, perhaps co-pilot of a skilled PR pilot and to practice offline (with another, experienced, pilot, preferably)
- That thing might belong to someone. Many servers have rules that dictate who exactly is allowed to use a helicopter. Sometimes the first squad that is named "Heli" or something gets it, sometimes there are other, more complex rules, but it's rarely possible to take a helicopter without some other player who was pilot for the whole round and wants to take his next heli being angry at you when it's gone
Start as infantryman, as the rest have suggested. Take a rifleman kit and learn the ropes before attempting to use any heavy or important assets. The worst that can happen when you're a rifleman is that you die, losing one or two tickets, instead of dozens of tickets that could be lost when you crash a full heli.

Thanks for the replies guys, I tried playing online today but i was kicked instantly when I spawned... Do you know if there are any guides on how to play multiplayer? how to connect to mumble, if i should ask someone which kit i should use or how everything works, so i dont have to get kicked every time?

Re: Beginner help
I bet the server enforced mumble?
You should have been able to install PRmumble 1.0.0 together with the install. Or else https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f196-p ... 1-0-a.html Read this! Very useful. The thread will explain everything.
And read the manual: https://www.realitymod.com/manual/pr_manual.pdf

Re: Beginner help
I think I am the one who temp ban you for taking the kiowa to an other squad. You had not respond to 2 or 3 warning and you were not in mumble. I know It can be hard for newbi but you have to anderstand there is nothing more fustrating for a cas sqd to wait 20 minute for a chopper to spawn and see a random player who just steal it and do not even respond. A temp band migt be rude, but you will learn faster. It is impossible to us to know if it was intentional or not when you dont even respond. Thanks for the replies guys, I tried playing online today but i was kicked instantly when I spawned... And the other kick was probaly that you were not in mumble, or you have forget to join a sqd.

Re: Beginner help
Quick tip. DO NOT operate ANYTHING until you have practiced. This goes specially for aircraft.

Re: Beginner help
Ok guys, as i said i have now been playing singleplayer for about a year so now i know most of how vehicles works.
@blackice55 No that wasn't me since i only spawned and got kicked instantly, didn't do shit. some "punkbuster" something kicked me instantly. the time i tried connecting to internet servers before that was about half a year ago where i actually could spawn and when i crashed the helicopter i got banned
So basiclly what i need to do is, start PRmumble 1.0 then i join a server...Now here is the problem; which kit do i choose, which squad do i join? Are those things up to me or do i need to contact the commander or my squad leader ?
Still only got 2 servers on serverlist with over 40 players and usually one of those are full on players. then like a 100 with no players. Do i need to find some list of servers and then connect manually in config or something to be able to find the real servers with ppl on?
@Microwaife: thx m8!

Re: Beginner help
Do you have the right version of the game installed?
Update punkbuster: PunkBuster Online Countermeasures
Just download the setup and run it. Add Bf2 as a game and update! should fix your problems!
Join a squad that says: INF mumble or Mumble or something similar.

Re: Beginner help
i've only been playing for about 2 or so months so i kinda see where you're coming from. dropping into a multiplayer game, especially one that's already in progress, can be a little confusing when you're new.
i'd recommend just getting a standard rifleman kit to start out with, unless your SL tells you otherwise. as DavviZ said, try to join a squad named inf, mumble, mumble inf, etc. as you play more, you'll get used to how everyone works and communicates together, learn how assets are integrated, special squads, and things like that.
in short, stick to infantry until you get to know everything, then move to assets once you got everything down.

Yup, join an infantry squad, get a rifleman kit, as I said earlier. As soon as you join, start talking to your squad leader (I don't mean annoy him, I mean tell him who you are and what he wants you to do). Then just follow orders and you'll gain experience.
Vehicles in singleplayer often work quite differently than in multiplayer, and many aspects of warefare that are essential in MP are absent in SP, including effective vehicle coordination and frontline supplies / reinforcements.

Whenever I play (New Zealand Timezone) usually the only populated servers are ]CIA[ and the Hardcore server. There are usually only 1-2 servers full at any one time from what I have experianced, and at the rare occassion 3.Mrslobodan wrote: Still only got 2 servers on serverlist with over 40 players and usually one of those are full on players. then like a 100 with no players. PR is a dead mod during the hours I play (US EST), largely due to a lack of real patches and an excessive series of fail minimods. H probably should have shut its server down a while ago, TG beat us to the punch in bailing on this mod. I and a small number of the 100+ H clan are the only ones left playing PR, the rest just got bored of it.risegold8929 wrote:Whenever I play (New Zealand Timezone) usually the only populated servers are ]CIA[ and the Hardcore server. you are the only one? are you sure that you do not forget an other clan... However its mostly depend on the time that you play the game. sometime on the weekends project reality still top 600 players and more. The advantage with the US server, its when they dont die early in the morning they stay up 24/24.PR is a dead mod during the hours I play (US EST), largely due to a lack of real patches and an excessive series of fail minimods.
