You need at least 2 repair stations from different logistic trucks.

How do you guys manage to land so hard? I am not even a fulltime pilot, just use my mouse when im bored of infantry and fly trans. Only disabled because of enemies or unskillfull landing on uneven ground. Never ever from hard landing.

Meaning your chopper will most likely be blown up by the time you get those two repair stations, so you shouldn't really count on that. Either go for main or just land and abandon the chopper.

One time I landed the cobra at the repair station in muttrah while it was hurt pretty bad.

Repair truck was there, and we kept dropping repair stations, but it just bled out. IT was like trying to resuscitate someone, and you keep getting a heartbeat but it fades away, or like giving birth to a stillborn child.

Fucking heartbreaking. Even tried to grab an engineer to use the wrench..

Then again, that'll likely have been compensated by those awesome times you reach the carrier with all the red alarm lights and beeps going off and being in flames

Anyway, it's easy as hell to land without taking damage. Momentum is what could damage the chopper, but you can easily either transfer it by landing like a plane (sliding forward over flat ground) or by pointing the nose up at about 45 degrees. The latter will be scary at first but unless you really go too far, nothing will happen. The chopper will simply lose all its speed (without topping over backwards) and you can simply touch down.

Probably they hover 10/15m above the LZ, and then hold S untill they hit the ground.

CAS helicopters are already stupidly powerful, they're only perceived to be made of paper if youre a bad pilot. You'll notice that they can totally dominate with proper coordination. An upping of health, or flare usefulness is unnecessary, and would only serve to terminate balance with AA staying as useful as it already is.

They're hard tools, and their counters are easy tools, thus if youre not VERY experienced, and clever, you die very easily. The gunship's laser guided missile is probably the most powerful weapon in the game.

The problem is that the CAS helos are basically unrealistic in their use. IRL any attack helo that finds it funny to fly up high in conventional warfare will basically die immediately to a salvo of SAMs and AAMs.

Of course, in insurgent warfare it's a different story but most attack helos in the game aren't used in Insurgency.

I agree. I was watching some LiveLeak videos and the Apaches always circle around, fairly slowly, at 100-150m.

Then again, it would be tough to balance the attack choppers any other way.

I would be in favor of some kind of view mode that allows attack helos to see thermal signatures well beyond the viewdistance barrier, in return for AA that can basically lock on to the attack helo 2-3 km away.

Everything in PR is unrealistic in it's [direct] use - it's a representation, not a simulation (engine can't simulate a real battlefield). I don't have any problems with that btw, but it's important people bear it in mind!

If you go to the Eagle Dynamics forums you'll find that people with flying licences and degrees in maths misunderstand basic military flying procedures and the use of technical military equipment. No offence but PR players don't have that level of education and dedication to learning the subject and are just as likely to have misconceptions. I know I do, all the time.

Thus you can't really say that the helo's in PR are unrealistic because they fly high.. In the given PR environment real life attack choppers would probably do the same because it's what works!

There's no radar sams, the heat-seeking ones only lock on within the view distance, you can fly so high that people below can't see your chopper, there are no enemy aircraft as a threat, you don't have a mission objective, your FARP is only 35 seconds away, there are no ROE's, your sensors don't outrange the enemies, etc etc etc.

Hmm ? There is nothing more to be done with the choppers itself, it's their environment (low view distance, overpowered AAs etc). And for milionth time, stop saying "bro" and "dafuq" all the time. You can talk like that with your buddies but finnaly this is a public forum. Would you say " what the fuck are you talking about" and "bro" to people that you want to take you serious and have respect to you? <facepalm>

Delete, not relevant to forum. Making a joke that doesn't make sense about the topic's name and it relating towards the natural part of a women's body flushing itself that I know I will come to regret.

TL;DR: Insane Troll
