Played this tonight on PRTA as British, had a ball of a time. It restored my faith in PR to see just infantry squads fighting (mainly) as groups of six.
I'm putting this in the Infantry feedback section because it relates to the great feeling there was to communicate with another infantry squad that was pinned down, and trap the enemy that was firing at them between us.
Also, on the last flag, there was the artillery area assault used and then all of the squads on our team swarmed up the hill. Which again was a great feeling.
PR with assets can be great, but it also can add complexity to the game and give a feeling of loneliness in that once you die, you spawn back at main and make a long trek back to the front. If you're in an infantry squad on these maps it's usually because you were the only one of two and the other is 1000m away, and you all got wiped out and have to start from square 1 again.
Tonight the squads' medics were helping out everywhere, and because there were so many infantry squads they managed to do well as a big (somewhat co-ordinated) line.
Wasn't all good - It took a long while to get that level of blob symphony, but it was great when it happened. Also, inevitably someone had to do that long trek back to main to rearm the Logi trucks, which I admit wasn't me (I was having too much fun with my squad working our way through the forests to the next objective). But in the end the Commander filled the logi role, and it all went ok.
I've put this in the Infantry feedback section because I think it's good feedback on how well BF2 works when it's nice and simple (despite the logi truck system) and there are lots of people that just want to find the enemy and shoot them. It's not specific to Fools Road and it's not specific to PRTA.
Had a blast tonight, it's reminded me why I enjoy PR. Long live the Inf layers!

Re: Fools road Inf layer.
Mike and you doubted me putting it on the mapvote.
This seems to be one of the best INF layers to play - enough space for tactics but not too much room for a walking sim.
All the woods mean a sneaky squad can have some fun and it seems nicely balanced with AK's v scoped.
I got a CTD and didn't come back last night sorry.

Apologies Plod, I thought you meant Skirmish. I hadn't realised that there were now ~50 people in the server!
May I thank you again for sticking this on again last night (the OP is from a while ago), had a blast again.
Logistics are pesky, but I can live with that.
You getting run over on the bridge out of main, and then revived about 4 mins later.. (Wondered why you quit, I know you're a busy guy though so just presumed you were needed elsewhere).
Again, last night there was a true cohesion as the blue blob worked together. Although I am starting to think it was too easy, and the Militia just got steamrolled both times which is why it was fun for us on the Brit side.
In vBF2 people (as a mass) seem to make fairly good subconscious decisions about where to go as a 'blob' .. I think this happens quite often on this map with 64 players as Inf. A few times now i've 'pincered' an enemy unit that got inbetween our squad and another, and it worked quite well (In both cases the enemy squad was the aggressor). Other quads have come to our aid as well, usually without any comms.
Could just be coincidence #shrugging smiley#
(Actually thinking about it, people are usually just walking towards the 'bullet sounds' but still, this is why 64 inf players make a fun round).
Had a blast though
