I think it might work on low settings but ram might be a problem. 4gb really is sort of a limit. Try and you'll see I say.

Right, as stated above you need to use Gamebooster.
Please tell us which OS you use, WinXP, Vista, Win7, Win8,? 32 or 64 bit version?
You also should do this:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... b-ram.html
You should also download the free version of ProcessLasso, Bitsum Software Make sure you download the correct version, either 32 bit free version or 64 bit free version.
and set bf2.exe, pr.exe and tr.exe to high priority and gaming priority.
download from Guru3D.com
Google thoroughly before trying this if you are unfamiliar with how to install, uninstall and restore GPU drivers correctly.

Side Note: If you don't wish to change your Priorities every time you load a game, you can try Process Lasso which has an option for "Automatically enter gaming mode." Which will set your Priorities based off your computer's recommended settings. After installing Process Lasso, load Project Reality, and you will see PR.exe TR.exe and BF2.exe and PR_mumble.exe in the processes list. You can right click Each of these processes to "Classify this process as a Game" and much, much more! I recommend clicking Main, top left, and make sure ProBalance enabled and Gaming Mode - Now Automatically ON is checked. GameBooster keeps as little processes running during gaming as possible and Process Lasso keeps the processes that are running down to a minimum of CPU/RAM usage. They can go hand in hand, however Process Lasso is more-so necessary if you're playing Project Reality on a very old computer. Simply give it a try and see if it helps, if it doesn't then don't use it.
You might want to experiment with custom ATI drives for your GPU:7) clean your system:
If you don't clean up your computer it will run slow. junk files, broken shortcuts, fragmented HDD can all lead to poor performance. CCcleaner is an excellent cleaning program, and its free: CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download
I/O bit also makes a great free cleaning/utility program for free called Advanced system care:http://www.iobit.com/ld/iobitadvancedsystemcare.html
I have and use both. (prob. overkill, but I like them both)
Defrag your hard drive
I never used to be a fan of defragging your hard drive. It takes a long time, and I never saw any real performance increase afterward.
That is until I used ultimate defrag 3 by disk trix. Typical defrag software puts all the software on your hard drive in one consolidated chunk. Ultimate defrag 3 puts all your software on the outer edge of your hard drive for quicker access time. (much like a cd/dvd) I saw 5-10 FPS increase in LOCO after using this. Also my computer over all seems more responsive.

Gamebooster will shutdown unneccessary processes to free System memory and RAM.
ProcessLasso will give BF2.exe PR.exe TR.exe High priority for the RAM, system I/O and CPU,
and
the /3GB Bootparameter will allow you to allocate 1GB of your RAM to your OS and 2GB of your RAM to PR .
The custom GPU drivers will allow you to overclock the GPU.
Defrag the hard drive , preferably putting the BF2 directories at the front of the drive, and that is the best you can do.
Good luck.
