I did that, and the only thing that spiked up was my BF2. It was around 482,000 K.

How did the memory column on the performance tab look? was it all the way at the top?

There is a button at the bottom of the performance tab (Resource Monitor) that gives you more detail on the hardware such as memory usage and faults and HDD data.

I still think you have too little RAM.

Things off the top of my head that could cause it

- Fragmentation <- Already ruled out
- Bottleneck <- Why would this suddenly present when you reinstalled?
- Hardware failing <- Seems too convenient an answer
- ????

There are a few things you can try if you want to rule out the bottleneck... although the "hardware failing" testing is a little more involved.

Lets try everything we can think of. For the bottleneck, it could be that possibly I need more RAM. I mean its only 4.00GB not a lot. of 465 GB I have 205 GB free. I used to have around 245 GB free...I need to find out why its so low all the sudden

Both of your CPU cores are getting high , but not staying maxxed out, That could cause some of the bottleneck.

The tab next to the CPU is the Memory. Check that graph to see how the Memory is performing when loading the maps, if it looks like the CPU graph and has areas where it gets to 100% then it will cause some serious bottlenecking while it tries to free up memory for the game.

I still think you have too little RAM.

I'm skeptical about that mostly because:

1. It's 4GB, not less... Historically sufficient for decent load times in PR. Plus my computer has 3.8GB of ram (200mb to the shared VRAM) and it loads far faster than his
2. His hardware specs haven't changed but his load times have. This indicates that the amount of ram has F*all to do with it.

That being said, it is a possibility. A way to test it would be to try the 'famed' game-booster that is touted on the forums quite often. I tried it once and it didn't help me at all, so I reckon it's largely a placebo but hey, why not at this point! I assume this is the right one...

Lets try everything we can think of.

I just figured out, if you want (and have the hardware), you can test both the bottleneck & hardware sides by installing to a HDD that is not shared by your OS and thus on a different SATA port. This would give the game dedicated ~80mB/s throughput and would serve to make sure that your main HDD isn't faltering for some unknown reason.

yeah, that certainly looks like your 4GB of RAM are handling the map loading just fine. So much for my hunch.

Robbiebo, some quick questions:

1. Give us all the info on your hard drives, and partitions. Manufacturer, model number, etc. all of it. for each.
2. Is your OS and BF2 installed on the same partition?
3. What version of BF2 do you own? Steam, EA Origin, Retail Cd, etc.?
4. What firewall and antivirus programs are you using?
5. Do you have Superfetch enabled or disabled?
5a. and Prefetch enabled or disabled?
6. Have we tested for bad sectors on your HDD?
7. What is your pagefile set at right now? my computer > right click > properties > advanced > performance, settings > advanced->Check the pagefile

We can go about optimizing your system like we used to do in 2002 on XP, that is placing the BF2 directory on the edge of your HDD platter, using custom defragmenter scripts,
we can use freeware, such as mydefrag.com with a custom script, or trialware, such as DiskTrix , or pay ware such as O&O Defrag to get the job done.

What I meant was install/reinstall BF2 & PR to another hard drive, if you have one. So like in my old computer I had a primary drive (SSD 64GB) and a 500GB programs drive, and a 1TB raid0 drive for fraps dumps.

If you have more than 1 drive, I'd suggest trying to install it on the external drive, just to see if it makes any difference. Yeah it's a PITA and takes about 30 minutes, but it's well worth the test.
