[Help] Editor slow as ****

Post by Robert95 »

Well this is starting to piss me off. Whenever I wanna select a group of like 5/20 statics to move them to a certain area, waiting time easily takes 2 minutes of my precious time. This wasn't the case when I mapped before. Also, dragging a new static from the resources bar takes that long to configure. It annoys me.. I have 4GB of ram which isn't used at the moment I'm mapping.

I've messed around with the amount of loaded files, but that doesn't seem to be the problem..

try not loading certain parts of the map, such as undergrowth, overgrowth, gameplayobjects or lightmaps.

Only load what you intend to work on, it speeds up the editor quite a bit.

Thanks! How do I unload lightmaps? I have never done that before..

there's probably a clever way to do it, but I just rename the lightmap folder to something else like lightmaps1 and then reload the editor, when you load the map it'll not load those lightmaps anymore as it doesn't know you've changed the folder name, same for overgrowth or your gameplayobjects.con

Alright, I will do that for the lightmaps. Do you think disable render-toggle draw overgrowth/undergrowth will suffice for the growth either?

turning the OG and UG off when working is certainly a good idea to keep FPS high, though the Editor still likes it if you load teh minimal amount to begin with :)

Generally when I'm working on my maps, I have gamplayobjects and lightmaps off and that works very well for me.
