I always play with people that join my squad. So long as they got a mic and can follow orders.

I do however kick people alone in a squad with sniper kits.... I hate snipers.

It's not luck or alignment of the stars that makes a good server.
It's good administration period. It's not a mystery. It's not like servers are plagued by some kind of organizational virus and were looking for the cure, it's because they fail to police their servers (enforce stated rules) hold everyone (admins, clan members, pubbers) to the same standard. And the other thing is that TG was supported financially for a slot. People financially supported what was working.

Just because you can afford to run a server doesn't mean you should unless you have COMPLETE admin coverage. During some speculation of hacking occurring on one of the clan servers I asked a head admin if he or his admins checked screenshots daily, something me and my admins did religiously once upon a time. His reply was "screen shots, what are those?". A sign of the times.

Well, a great deal of that has to do with not being able to see anything anymore.

PB screenshots are almost always black, because the hacker has blocked them or their up-to-date video card drivers wont allow it. It has more or less become a defunct feature.

I used to be able to watch players as they played in vanilla so I can look for aimbots or wallhacks and I used to do it in PR as well, but now the "renderer.drawhud 0" command is gone and for good reason.

Now I have to rely on some ******* recording the deed and putting it on Youtube, or speculation.

What tools exist to combat this BS anymore?

Personally I think that tg was so amazing was the people that played there not the admins. Nothing against tg admins but the reason that all the game-play was top notch was you had for the most part the majority of the same mature people playing on tg. You could look at a team and you would be able to recognize the majority of the people because you've played thousands of rounds with them. The problem was a lot of these regulars got bored of pr moved onto other games or real life came along. Once the regulars where gone the quality of game-play degraded no one wanted to seed and tg died. Hopefully 1.0 will bring most of them back and we can get tg rolling again I honestly don't see this happening unfortunately

Those nights of tacti-cool on lTGl are priceless. But, no one is perfect not lTGl, not NWA, not PRTA or who ever your go to server is, the fact remains that the players are the biggest lifeline the game and servers have. I know I try to start squads when admins or clan members are locking squads (even if I'm far from a tactical genius) because having a strong community is what keeps PR chugging for the last (5?) years. Admins just seem to forget that their servers are nothing without the players, especially in this player drought.

I think having a good game of PR is what its really all about. No matter what server your on. I like getting strange men into my squad, and make them do all sort of crazy shit.

Thats alot of fun. No matter what tag they have, or what language they speak. I even played with russians who speak 0 english. And Ive managed to use simple russian words that i learned from Copycat, like davai and Shaska and shit.

And they kinda got it. (I think the markers helped alot)

And when i wanted them to fire, you just yell louder and fire. They usually get that.

I've been thinking on why so many people, including me has so many feels for TG. I think it's because at the time you couldn't (barely) find a server with teamwork with alot of players on mumble. The TG server was concentrated teamwork. Now, howevermore servers have a decent amount of good games but nothing as close to TG.

We don't realise it because we always compare to the best games we had, on TG. But the general quality of our server have improved. TG times was like football, not many goals but when there is one, oh boy. While the current situation could be more like hockey, more goals, and therefore you don't get as excited.

I have to wholeheartedly disagree, Ace.

When I started playing PR, I obviously wasn't totally teamwork oriented, but over time I figured out that teamwork was the way to go. During this transition I did many many stupid things on the TG server and the Tactical Gamer R Game Officer, Wicks, was very understanding and looked upon my unban requests with no bias. In fact, I was taken aback at how nice he was. It takes a special someone to become an admin at TG. The admins are handpicked in a fashion to ensure posterity of the server over the long run.

My take on the language filter is not because we are all mature and don't say those words, but it was because we are all mature and shouldn't say those words where young adults or even children are present. I have a young cousin who likes to watch me playing video games, and I cringe every time she has a chance to read one of these words. That's what the rule is about to me.

I later on joined up with TG after playing on their server for a while and haven't regretted my decision one bit.

In regards to the OP, wait until 1.0 comes out. Maybe TG will have a server where you will be more than welcome to play.

Now I've been snooping around ol' lTGl chums and the rumor RUMOR RRUUUUMMMMMOOOORRRRRR is that the powers that be have plans to re-start a lTGl server if the player base does indeed boost and maintain an acceptable population after 1.0 goes live. Or they're the trolls that be and I have terrible chums

An internet epidemic talking about TG but for ages but TG couldn't even get 10 seeders after a concerted effort.

Instead of remembering the good times organise a Friday and Saturday event night Fri infantry only and Saturday asset heavy or something like that.

It takes 2 mins to write in this thread but 1 hour to go and seed.

If players like what they see and it fills repeat the next weekend.

TG was great.. no question about it. But as it was already said, you really didn't have that many good servers when TG was up...

Servers like IGI, TB, 10th had disappeared or got unpopulated for some reason. So people play on whichever servers have the most players and still a free slot. This happens multiple times... some servers crash a bit more for a week and the player base switches to another server and sometimes never comes back.

That happened with TG as well, unfortunately it got replaced by servers that really lack the concept of teamwork. However you do have great servers now days like NEW and the only complain you might have for this one is that sometimes it gets unbalanced. Well think it this way, the community has grown quite a bit the last years and so there are more clans and with bigger numbers of players and that presents an issue on any server. Besides the fact that you also have more morons and trolls.

TG had its own community always playing on the server but besides that, you wouldn't see that many clans joining it less alone with 2 full squads, mostly because those were rare. Now you do so it becomes a lot more common which means less random squads created and more locked squads.

As I said before, even if the squad is locked, ASK TO JOIN.

as with all things its the clan who runs the mod, the BF2 PR devs just have to worry about illegal actions by those clans, the reason why it seems like a dictatorship is because it is.

Its started by usually one or two guys who resume full control till death or boredom, then its down to the individual policies of the group, the best thing to do is see if the clans or groups write their policies down for you to read in easily accessible areas.

Policies also include rules and names of those responsible etc, if they dont specify a responsible person then forget it as you really wont get anywhere, professionally run groups by grown ups are generally run like businesses where the community comes first.

The PR devs could set up a quality control system but how many actual reports would you get which arent just "I got banned because of.....", also theres a reason why there are many servers out there and that is so you can have the choice, the bad servers make the good servers look even better.

And if a clan is really as dumb as to put the worst admins up front, and to scare off community then so be it, I have had personnal experience with this with a retarded mistake I made with one of my admins.

But as with all things we fall over to pick ourselves back up again.
