Battlefield 2 uses GameSpy for login and server browsing, and isn't that much younger than some of the games that they pulled support from.

So either pay lots of money to keep it up, or pay lots of money and make your own system. Is any of that likely for BF2? I have my doubts to be honest.
I'll continue to hope for the best, but I have to say I'm a bit worried now.
