1 Shot Kill Tanks by shooting Sights

I'm pretty sure this is a bug with the armor materials on the tanks. If you shoot at the commander sights or the gunner sights on a main battle tank, you will one shot the tank.

Tested on the Abrams and T72.

The Abrams has a huge disadvantage vs the T72 on Kashan desert because it has such a huge commander sight on the top and can easily be targeted.

yeah we always shoot at that, im not sure if it's supposed to be like that.

Because whoever modelled it made the texture/hit type 'glass' so it's penetrable.

AHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA111!

(Yet we still have a bulletproof shield on the Insurgent technicals).

Its not so much that its penetrable, its more that the same material is used by APCs and tanks. Really we need to make a lot more materials, just haven't got round to it for different types of vehicles but haven't got round to it.

And btw, who modelled it isn't the one to blame, its who coded it, but actually, they coded it with the best available material so they are not so much to blame :p

In my opinion, we shouldn't fix that "bug". It is somehow realistic. And to be honest, to hit that thing, you must be close to each other AND you need a little bit more time to aim on it, which I have never experienced before on Tank Battles

could count for a mobility kill, forcing torch repair or abandon ship. shouldn't necessarily start cooking off, but i agree on how it's somehow realistic. tweak the bug, make it a feature

Well a tank wouldn't go up in Flames when you shoot the sights of the tankcommander. I'm never driving tanks, but is it right, that the commander sights are somewhat on top of the tank?

Main optics destroyed is not exactly fixable immediately.

Yes but main optics are often supplemented with a backup set, or worse case the tank commander would probably just RTB his vehicle as he would now be combat ineffective and tanks aren't free.

Many have known of this issue for quite some time, and I personally have dished out a lot of rage (had my share of "WTF was that?" 1 shot deaths) and I would really like to see this addressed. It's not like this issue just reared it's head with the newer assets, it has been floating around for some time.
