the problem was there was an update for vietnam, like a month after it was released, but it was never really announced all that well, so when admins started to run it, lots of people got booted for having outdated versions, and it "killed" servers, thus resulting in people trying to play them againSGT.Ice wrote:Skipping all previous posts, 2 weeks after Vietnam when I finally got it installed it seemed a lot of people wanted to play it. The problem however was it was very unstable & crashed the server/clients from what I was told.

re: No more Vietnam / Normandy / Falklands?
hi all
I am not a fantastique gamer , but i like play PR , and Falkland is strategique map , we need to play this map with a team who play all the time together like NWA or ODS 3DAC etc etc ......
With FFA gamer it s not possible if we dont have good commandant.
it s like to play alone !! With not coordination.
And at the end you leave because you dont know how play . And guy leave because it s long
If you find a nice commandant , i am sure , you can have a nice match.
Why Rhino and guy who help you to do this map cant do this post ? Like this you can help some guy to learn this map.
It s a large map , and it s another style of gameplay inside . Perhaps i say wrong things here but that s what i think .
bye

I think that was my bad, they should've been releasedbrezmans wrote:the charlie's point server files are not available to all serverhosters... We'd love to run it on HOG...
But not to worry, there will be 'merged' serverfiles so you can run all minimods

Does it need to be passworded as Normandy isn't yet an official minimod?[R-DEV]AfterDune wrote:But not to worry, there will be 'merged' serverfiles so you can run all minimods.
After the event PRTA is going to announce a day solely exclusive to minimods (Friday or Sunday). Hopefully this will bring some variety to the playerbase and other servers will tag along. There are no excuses now.

Is there a timeframe on this or do we have to wait until 1.0? If you make them available now there will be more vietnam fun and maybe more feedback on those maps?[R-DEV]AfterDune wrote:I think that was my bad, they should've been released.

Just an idea

They'll be available after next weekend - there's a minimod weekend and the server will require these serverfiles. They're not 100% done yet atm, but will be by next weekend

I finished it a few days ago, other than any updates needed to it and testing[R-DEV]AfterDune wrote:That's the whole idea. Rhino is working on that.

yeah if everyone "on the same page" for 1.0 there's no reason we wont see all these maps in the rotation, Ia Drang is great, I cant wait to play it again

Re: No more Vietnam / Normandy / Falklands?
Would be nice to give the americans a place to play the minimods regularly, so I hope HOG can provide that.
Yesterday the event went on at 3am London time and for the most part were american players (as in the whole continent). It shows that they too are hungry for such.
In the meanwhile, europeans can count with minimod action on Fridays in PRTA. Hopefully other servers will find an alternative solution to either rotate them together with core PR or use the main server - as we will - sporadically.

Re: No more Vietnam / Normandy / Falklands?
Main thing is PR on the whole is in a bit of a lull at the moment.
To be honest, the Vietnam mod was and is, to an extent still, a bit messy. It was buggy at release and had only two new maps (and Dien Duong was not particularly good). The content was simply not up to the standard set by vanilla PR (although that isn't to say that some of it wasn't very good).
The Falklands is really good but as a generalization its ground combat can't compare with vanilla Project Reality (simply because of the nature of the Falklands War). Its air combat is PR's best, however. It's a great compliment to vanilla Project Reality but to reach its maximum potential needs more players than are currently playing PR.
I haven't played Normandy so I can't comment on it.
It's hard to tell how successful these mods are going to be until v1.0 is released and server populations get their expected revival. The good news is there are 400 players on according to PRSPY at the moment and it's a Monday morning.

I can't wait to try the Falklands, as well as Vietnam. It's a shame that servers don't play them so often, sad face smiley.

Re: No more Vietnam / Normandy / Falklands?

Gents, get ready for minimod action every friday in PRTA!
We will use our main server for minimods only and the maplist will be determined by the players.
Don't miss the 21st!
This is your chance to enjoy the minimods on a weekly basis!
