My friend is looking for a laptop to use photoshop on, i have no idea about laptops so can you help me out?

Found two choices,

As always it'll be a choice between speed or screen size:

here is a 15.6":
Lenovo B570 M58GHUK

and a 17":
Lenovo G770 M53ADUK

The i5 would be more up to the task of image editing, however depending what version, the 2nd might be quicker (using GPU acceleration if your version of PS utilises it).

lenovo one would be my choice since its cheaper and has a bigger HD although that other one apparently has longer battery life

If it's for more serious photoshopping, one should remember that it's not just about screen size. It also needs to present the image properly. Some have issues with poor contrast or the colours are lacking.
There's really no way to tell from the specs, and reviews are hard to trust on this. So my advice is to try every potential laptop IRL, just to see what the screen is like.

Is your friend needing something that is new, or would he be happy with a nice used tablet-style notebook?

A friend of mine is about to sell her "gently" used HP Pavilion TX2000 CTO, and I've been tasked with cleaning it up and listing it on ebay when it's ready. I've browsed around to compare prices, and I've been seeing a few of them selling for as low as $300 USD.


I helped her pick it out when she bought it new directly from HP on custom order, and I've been the one "in charge" of maintaining it over the last couple of years (she's not very experienced with computers). It was for her daughter to use in high school, who was interested in art. She was also using it for video editing (using the Pinnacle Studio HD Ultimate that I gave her). The laptop originally cost over $1000 USD, with some models costing around $1300 USD. So getting a used one for around $300-500 USD is a good deal depending on what is included. Because of all the goodies I left installed on their laptop, I'll probably list it for around $450 (has over $500 in extra software alone).


One of the features that sets this style of laptop apart from others is the screen, which has 180-degree rotation and can be used flat like a iPad. Touchscreen with digitizer and a very nice stylus, 12.1" 16:10 screen, Nvidia GeForce Go 6150 graphics, and other factors make it fast enough and clean enough to do plenty of photo and video editing.

If he doesn't mind getting a great computer that's slightly used, you should look on ebay or other sites for one of the TX2000/2500 models and see what you think.

I'm not talking about buying the laptop I'm selling, but suggesting to look at similar models available on the UK ebay site or on similar shopping sites that offer used or refurb units at a decent price.

If someone wants a notebook for photoshop, the best option is to look at models that were designed from the ground up for such a use. While the TX2000 series isn't the only one out there, it definitely served its purpose better than other laptops could.

Mmmmm Laptops are very best for photoshop because of the all heavy sepcifications with a good graphic card and every everything but i think we cannot use photoshop properly on the laptop because of the lake of mouse power and keyboard options for typing fast and give commands...
