How are you supposed to hit 1436? The right side of the angle meter thingy, I dont get it. Why are the numbers so strange aligned there?

Can someone explain to me?

Project Reality: BF2 Mod v0.95: Deployable Mortars - YouTube

You need to be able to read the dial.

1400_------------------
--------------------------- <=1425
--------------------------- <=1450
--------------------------- <=1475
1500_-------------------

The smallest lines on the actual dial are all units of 5.

Straight from the maker ;-)

quick question, is this sort of the way it's done IRL?

also, for realism sake shouldn't some of the angle wheels have different markings, depending on the mortar?(10 mil for each line for example)

This is the way its done IRL. I read through a Mortar Crewman operational manual and consulted with people who've done this while developing it.

I adopted only one system because in PR only one weapon is used (the M252) and for simplicity. Adding more mortars may happen in the future but the HUD for the mortar is very specialized and would require a lot of extra work to create variant targeting systems for little gain.

All you need to know is that between each white bar is a value of 5.

It comes out of simple math:
  1. Choose 2 numbers. In this case 1500 and 1400 (or 1300 and 1400 - no difference here :) )
  2. Now let's do some math: 1500 (Highest Number) - 1400(Lowest Number) = 100. The result is 100.
  3. Now let's count longer bars between these 2 numbers: 1500 and 1400. There are 4 bars between these numbers.
  4. Divide 100 by 4. The result is 25. Congratulations, now you know that every longer bar between 2 digits is 25.
  5. There is also help for ya, folks, the longer-longer bar. This bar stands for 50. Hooray for our genius!
  6. Let's try to find out how many bars are there between 1400 and first longer bar which is 25. In case if even a mole call you blind I will tell ya, folk, that there are 4 shorter bars between.
  7. Shall we try to repeat the Step 4. and divide 25 by 4? You might want to but I suggest you to divide it by 5. Why? Find yourself, genius! In the end, we are left with short bar which value is 5.
  8. Take the cookie! I mean..FIRE!!!
Honestly, didn't you all do this kind of stuff in the school labs during Chemistry/Physics lessons? Mature community..
