Hello
Can you guys give me a help with the map loading screenshots? As in how do I do to make them less pixelated? I use the editor to get some SS's and on map loading they look horrible.
Thank you
LE. Ill ask another thing here to avoid opening more topics: LOD. Is there some setting to adjust lod switching distance for under/overgrowth or statics ?
just wanna know if there's anything to tune or the LOD switching is coded withing the object ?

I think they have to be 1024x768 the loading screens. But to save them you need these: https://developer.nvidia.com/nvidia-tex ... -photoshop
Then save them to DXT1, 1bit Alpha and with no mips, then rename the file name from .dds to .png then place them in the info folder.
And you can't have a client side mod that changes lod distances without getting kicked by punkbuster.

Um, i think you're better off taking screenshots with prbot ingame rather then inside editor, as they will have better resolution as well as they can use ingame anti-aliasing.
For those LODs i think he is talking about changing it for a map he might be making Rhino, not a clientside "hack". Dont know much about this stuff myself, though.

Loading screens dont have to be dds format, they can also be JPG, or PNG those are the two I know works for sure

Re: [Help] Photoshop
The PNGs that are used are always renamed dds files
. No idea why this is though.

Re: [Help] Photoshop
ok, so editor saves SS as DDS and the game saves them as JPG/PNG. Now, best looking SS are ingame (PNG) but rhino said DDS is the best format. Im a bit confused, save PNG ingame, convert them to DDS, and rename file format from DDS to PNG? Hope i got it right, right?

As I said above, compression of dds is far better for the same image:
.png: 722kb
.dds: 384kb

correct, although when saving as .DDS, ensure that you save it as DXT1 - 1 Bit Alpha and with no mip maps otherwise you will be saving pointless amounts of data you don't need, wasting the clients memory.

Picture says no alpha but if you have any 100% black areas on your image it will save them as blue sometimes so best to do 1 bit alpha to ensure you don't get that.
