CTD when trying to join server.

Afternoon all!
Decided to dig out my old bf2 disk after a few years after deciding arma 2 just doesn't cut it for me online. I'll say straight away I've had to resort to an online torrent to get a copy as my disk has decided to no longer work while installing (i understand if you cannot offer support for this and will wait till I pick up a new disk) installed it as usual and added my cd key. Ran bf2 and manually installed punk buster as I have windows 7. Then installed PR and the new patch. Now here comes the problem, the game will load on singleplayer no problem at all, however if I try and join a server online it disconnects straight away ie the punkbuster error then when I try and join again the game closes, this occurs on normal bf2 aswell, I've tried running in windowed mode and got no error appearing. I've set my affinity on the cores as I've noticed on other topics this causes issues. I've also tried running as an admin and all the compatibility modes to no avail. Bit stuck on this one now really.

My system specs are
Windows 7 64bit
AMD bulldozer 8core
6950HD radeon
16gb ram
For sound am using a G35 USB headset.

Any other ideas of what to try would be appreciated.

There are different versions of the retail packaging. The key in one package does not work across all packaging.

Manually update punkbuster.

And set up logging for punkbuster to see if you have incorrect key for your download, or if your key was banned by PB.

Cheers will give this a go tomorrow borrowing a friend's disc aswell to see if it was just the torrent file that doesn't want to work, il report back and see if I have any joy

Problem solved, cd key didn't want to go in the registry being 64 bit. Ran a program and it fixed it
