Slow computer need help and punkbuster

Hello, I got an ASUS laptop with win7. My problem is pr is lagging from time to time,and i can still only have about half of the video settings on medium, the bottom half of the video settings needs to be on low in order to play without insane lag in combat. I do realise it is a laptop but It feels like it should handle Bf2 r better with the things i got in it.

OS: Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Graphic/video:
AMD Radeon 6600M and 6700M Series
AMD HD 6520G(?)
Processor:
AMD A6-3400M APU with Radeon(tm) HD graphics 1.4GHz <---(x4)
RAM:
8,00GB (7,48GB usable)

I have alot of problems, I always have a feeling of lag, like the computer is slow, it takes about 3-5 minutes to load a map both in co-op and on internet. Sometimes when alot of explosions and incoming firing is happening it lags like hell.

My main question is; looking at my computer, do you think changing from Win 7 to Win XP would make my computer faster?
And 3 statements/questions, is any of this true?:
1. that Sometimes you can have too much RAM and you need to turn off RAM slots or something?
2. someone said you could turn on more of the processors for the game or something since i have quad-core.
3. Does turning of vertical sync on my graphic card improve speed and remove lag? My friend told me to do this, which i did but i have not noticed any major changes. Should i leave it on?

If you think nothing of this will help, do you have any other tip for me and my computer to make it faster?? Or do you think that it really isnt that good of a computer. Im really confused I would really like to know what you think about the computer aswell if it should be handling pr without problems or not etc etc.

And now to a little bit diffrent problem, which may not have to do with my computers performance. No need to answer this really if you don't got any 99%-100% working thing, just a side-problem which i also am having problem with.
I always keep getting random Crashes to desktop almost every 20-30 minutes of play. Sometimes it just crashes without error message but most of the crashes get the MD5 tool mismatch dbghelp.dll (len=2048 ) message(others aswell, like Mod_Archive something).
I have reinstalled the game about 5-10 times and also tried the punkbustersvc and pbsetup thing which at some point made it better but now it seems to be back. I also tried replacing dbghelp.dll file with Boscos file but it keeps coming back. Is the only solution to always update punkbuster when this happens and then live with the few crashes that do occur or is there a way to completly get rid of these anoying MD5 tool mismatch crashes?

You can try using Gamebooster while playing PR. For me it increased FPS a bit, and stop freezes, which happened to me from time to time before.

First to answer your main questions:

Windows 7 has bigger requirements to a PC but in your case I would not think it would make a difference.

In a way you can have too much RAM. In fact everything over 4 GB RAM is a waste on a gaming computer. People who need more than 4 GB RAM runs several memory heavy programs at the same time. For example designers and developers that do heavy editing in Photo Shop and needs to run other heavy programs in the background. No gaming computer really needs more thank 4 GB if you don't run any significant programs in the background. Don't believe people who tell you otherwise. I would actually recommend to only let the fastest 4 GB of RAM stay in your computer if you have different kind of brands in there. The most optimized would be RAM with the same brand and model type. Also you need to have windows x64 to be able to use over 4 GB ram.

BF2 was never designed to run on multi cores and I have not heard of this before so I wouldn't think so.

Vertical sync is something that you turn on to sync the game's frame rate to the frame rate of your screen. For example if your game is running at 100 fps and your screen is only a 60 hz(60 fps) you may experience some "screen tearing" since your screen cannot process all the frames your computer is providing. Some games forces Vsync to prevent this. Turning on Vsync will almost always have a negative hit on your performance. Don't turn it on if you do not have any issues with the graphic/screen view.

Here's my two cents on your problem:
There are alot of objects that have to be rendered in the BF2 R and many of them with high details. Especially the new fraction kits and weapons have high details and this will make a massive performance hit on your processor when many players a gathered because the processor has to renderer/draw all these objects repeatily. BF2 R requires a good processor to run the game smoothly and unfortunately since the games doesn't support multi cores your processor is simply too weak. Sorry but I will almost guarantee that this is your problem. Forget about graphic cards and RAM when it comes to PR. The processor is the most important here.
I do not know much about your processor and options to overclock it but here's something I read on the web:

The microprocessor runs at 1.4 GHz, although the new Turbo core feature can boost this frequency to 2.3 GHz when some cores are non-operational.

Try to look into this. is the "turbo core" activated when you are playing? Your could try the following:

1 Open Battlefield 2
2 Go back to desktop while bf2 is still running
3 Open ctrl+alt+del
4 Select the bf2.exe process and right click it, scroll down to "set affinity" and only select 1 cpu.

Also another weak solution is to try to reduce the view distance. But this will not help you much if you get in one of those fun battles where 64 players are gathered in radius of 250 meters distance.

As above; it's probably the CPU, BF2 can only use a single core, which is 1.4 GHz in your case, which isn't a lot.

Another thing is heat, since it's a laptop. Make sure your system isn''t overheating while playing.

Your CPU has a lot of potential, if you unlock it and overclock it.

You should look for the program k10stat or the program TurionPowerControl , and find several tutorials on how to properly use the program.
Youtube has some good video tutorials, ut you need to find a written tutorial so you know why you are doing what you are doing.
