Do You Support PR?

Post by paul161616 »

Hello all you PR fans. I want to start a discussion about a topic that seems a little ignored, donations to the PR team.

It's easy for someone to play and enjoy this mod and to never really think about the amount of unpayed work and expenses out-of-pocket the devs endure.
I think I speak for the whole community when I say your work is extremely appreciated, although not everyone can realize the effort that is really put into such a huge project like PR.
There is of course nothing wrong at all if you don't donate, or cant. I Haven't, but I plan to. Which brings me to the question I wanted to ask you guys.

Have you donated to PR? Have you not donated yet but plan to in the future? (eg: when 1.0 comes out, when christmas doesn't hurt my wallet so much.) Do you support the team in another way? I think it would be an interesting topic to discuss and to get the idea of donating in your heads.
I was also thinking this would make a good poll. From what i've gathered, you need a moderator to set that up. Correct me if i'm wrong. Thankyou for reading.

Not everyone can contribute monetarily, especially the younger members of the community - but that doesn't mean that they can't contribute in other ways.

My "contribution" or support for PR evolved over the years starting from as a 19 year old [now 26]:
  • Playing the game... a lot - even when player numbers were miniscule :-P
  • Becoming a PR community member and being part of the Australian PR community (BigD)
  • Helping to grow the community by helping to establish an Australian PR 10v10 competition that ran for 6 seasons over the years
  • Taking time out of my free time to train my fair share of players over the years
  • Making and sharing videos of PR for promotion purposes (mostly in the Australian webspace)
  • Getting a job that allowed me to donate to the local server's upkeep ;)
  • Helping to troubleshoot current and new users' problems with PR to get them [back] into the game. [Support forums]
  • Finally learning some useful modding skills and donating my time and knowledge as a CON <- I think the PR team would benefit the most from this one if more community members did it!
I think PR is by a considerable margin, the best game I have ever played - but the actual gaming experience depends heavily upon the other players in the server at any given time. The actual content from the devs/cons over the years has been incredible. I can't wait for 1.0!

If the devs came out and said "We're bleeding money and need donations now to keep the mod alive", I'd donate in a second, but as of now my money is being used on other life-expenses.

I think players who truly enjoy the game should be helping out wherever they can, even if it's just by bringing the most possible teamwork to each game they play, so that even more people get hooked on PR's true potential :)

I would put out $15-30 in a heart beat before v1.0, and $15-30 more after v1.0.

Because it would be almost like a different game due to amount of stuff added in v1.0.
And I have been playing PR since...maybe 0.86, which is not long but easily as long as I played any $60 game...except I never paid for those $60 games and never will because most of them suck and does not hold a candle to PR.

I organize events, and command in pub/tourny/events.

Reporting bugs is also contributing.

Quick question, I couldn't tell from the rest of your post - Is there currently something stopping you from doing that?

well said. a great example of contributing to the mod without actually donating!

I'm just waiting when they'll make PR on their own engine and release it. I will buy it 100%. I bought BF2 and ArmA2 with brit expansion only cuz of PR. If I will be rich like Bill Gates and will have free money to spare, I'd donate anytime.

I love PR and try to support it in many ways
  • I have donated and will donate more in the future.
  • I am one of the admins of a popular PR server, a lot of time goes into ensuring good gameplay and other stuff (mapvotes, because the community is important, guiding people that don't know the rules, server stability and more).
  • I try to spread the word of PR in other places
  • I try to help out other pr players and pr communities if they have problems where I can help
PR is an amazing game and wherever I can help I will step up.

There is, my paypal balance is 0 and spent too much from credit card.

Bought too much military surplus(bigger priority in life because I actually use these for reenactment) for myself. :(

A bunch of useful and less useful Soviet 1980-90s MotorRifles gear is not exactly cheap and easy to find.

i have it on a monthly 10 dollar the last 2 months as I reckoned PR to be the best game I have ever played so felt I should do what I can do atm when the mod has not reached its donation goal in several months. Right now I study in a low cost country and coming from a really high cost country has its benefits when it comes to student loans I am not rich by any stretch but I have the extra to do so.( the student loan is put up against norways salaries)

I found this sentence quite funny and since this is a war game forum I will put it here. No offense to the french just a good laugh.

Sometimes late at night, I think about playing but then just go to bed. Does that count?

Already done for the old releases.

I will wait for the changes of 1.0 and if its more action like gameplay. I think i will not pledge.
But if it support the same or more teamwork, gameplay tactics, carefull moving, high value of life/assets and shooting skills (no laser guns like TAR-21 now).

Me and a lot of my clanmembers will donate for PR 1.0. :)

I did donate to PR, because I realized that i play it for 7 years now without paying and bought the last Max Payne for 50 ? and played it for 10 hours.
So i felt i should at last pay the same for PR.

If 1.0 is fun (I am sure i love it) i will donate more.

I would love to support PR with something else but i suck at creating anything.

I map myself and help(ed) running PRTA and have tried to do many events over the last year. Trying to give the players something special or help the community or PR-team with things they needed testing with these events. It this way I hope to contribute something myself to the PR community and game. As we take much for granted from this big mod, so I try to give something back this way :)
