map crash vbf2

Post by Ason »

Hello, i made a 1on1 map in vbf2 just to try it out while learning, now i want to test the map with a friend. The problem is it works fine on my laptop (win 7) but not on my stationary pc(win vista)... I was able to get a error message the first times i tried, and it said something about gameplayobjects.con but now the game just CTD without error message when loading is at 99% or when i press "squad assignment".
The weird thing is all my maps i try to test on my stationary pc this happens, then i tried making maps on my laptop and they all started without a problem...
I copied my map folder from my laptop and sent it to my pc and just added it in the mods\bf2\levels folder. Do i need to pack my vbf2 maps aswell?
and does anybody know where i can find the packing script??

If running it on the other PC you need to pack the map, I dont know where the script is but you can just look at what is in each .zip for a PR map and do the same for your map

Thanks man, but i think it's a problem with the packing scripts. I tried with 2 diffrent scripts:

https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f189-m ... cript.html
Which asks me want a want to do with 2 options:
1.Build map
2.Quit
So i press 1 and enter, then there is some text scrolling and the window disappears after like 3 seconds, and in my map folder nothing has changed:S

EDIT: The first script might only be for PR maps(?)

The second script(BF2 Pack download down the list):
Editor, Tutorial, And Plug-in Downloads | All Listed Here. - Official BF Editor Forums

It is a .Zip file and when i try to extract it it says it cannot extract several files and stops.

Does anybody know where i can find a proper tool to pack my maps or explain to me how you do it becasue i really want to try my maps with my friends and as i have understood it i need to pack all the files of my map into like 2 .zip files and for that i need a file to do it for me right ?

EDIT: Ok i managed to extract the .zip file i just had to change extract location to D:\... Will see if it works....
2nd EDIT: Didnt work
If somebody could explain how the .zip file scripts work that would be great, the description in the readme file is very bad

this only happened to me when I didn't have the zip program installed correctly, recheck is the only thing I can say.
and are yous sure that the script didn't create any zip files called "server" "client" and info?

install 7zip correctly, you probably didn't:
Requires that you have 7zip installed on your system, and at the moment with the script it needs to be installed to the default location: "C:\Program Files\7-Zip\7z.exe", but you can edit the script to change it to a diffrent location
C:\Program Files\, not C:\Program Files(86x).

U only need Rhino's script, nothing else.

But 99% that it's not an error in your packing. As you don't need to pack a map to load it. You most likely did something wrong in your init or your GPO which makes it unable to load the map. You should simply upload it here so we can check.

Yes I'm sure no files were created, and I also have 7Zip installed to C:\Program Files\7-Zip etc...

If i try to pack it manually into a Server.zip and Client.zip and Info file, can somebody tell me the how to do it?
