Rather play a good map a lot rather than a shit map played a lot...

I think it's time for a change for it, maybe insurgency to mix things up.

I like it because it's not so big, and has plenty of action although repetitive it's still good for inf

I feel like the map is too small for Ins. Not enough variety in places to spawn a cache you know?

Most of the time USMC getting pushed back into the sea. Its rare to see the Americans win.

I like Muttrah, you can allways do something fun, even when you join mid battle. And its one of the highest quality maps in PR (Kokan has the highest quality of INS maps and is also overplayed)

I see USMC win as much as MEC on muttrah. Lack of teamwork will result in easy loss for both sides, Muttrah requires you to get your stuff together.

For the same reason people like insurgency maps - generally they are based in a city and you're never far off the action.

The larger maps are so barren (of players) that you can literally sprint across the map to take objectives, relying on not running into anyone. Most SL's do this. If your squad is caught out and wiped out you just do it again from a slightly different direction.

Muttrah is basically like a big skirmish map, which means it's FUN to play. Infantry actually have a purpose as well, because the buildings are non-destructable and you can camp them.

Basically people don't want to admit it, but a [fairly] linear map works very well in PR and forces infantry battles, unlike the huge empty 'flank attack' maps where you build a FOB after driving through what would be the enemy 'lines' and then sprint to the enemy's objective.

Because of the BF2 mechanics you can still abuse Muttrah, with ninja FOBs made by Hueys and single man Logi-FOB squads that rush past the enemy and build a FOB behind them, but luckily people prefer the actual fighting to the logistical side of teamwork, which is great.

Al Dhalam (Darkness in Arabic) Souq is the local name for the Muttrah Souq. The Muttrah Souq is perhaps one of the oldest marketplaces in the Arab world because Muscat is the world's largest natural harbor and has seen immense trade in the age of sail, being strategically located on the way to India and China.
In addition, its quite a beautiful port:

There is a certain joy in honing and refining strategy to a high level, which is where Muttrah is at as a map. At the same time, there are moments where I think "Not again". I think there is room for both fresher maps, and the sort of maps where everything is already "worked out", though. Not everything has to be only one way all the time.

With Muttrah you always know what just about what you're going to get. The downside is that you pretty much always know just about what it is you're going to get... It has something for just about everybody.

In Muttrah, both sides are pushing directly at one another. Other maps you can move across the map but Muttrah is like Skirmish w/vehicles.

Why is JB famous? Hype.

Muttrah 1 was fun in the old times, for some reason i dont know, but it was fun to attack a coastal city. It was famous back then. More hype on the v2 and voila.
No, its not great for snipers, no its not great for CAS and its definitely not great for armour and the cleanliness and spacing its pretty **** for infantry aswell. Its repetitive, always the same, its small. Its overplayed. It was also one of those "new" urban maps wich got me into buying a new computer because it was so advanced.

Kashan; first 4k map, hyped as fuck, **** for infantry, always the same, repetitive, armor doesnt know what to do... hype again.

Its about hyping, and once its hyped, commoners jump on it like starving wolves on a sheep. All the new bands are hyped, all the mediocre films go big because of hype all the game ala BF3 and COD go big because of hype.

We, people of the forums commited to PR a bit more than those who go for muttrah. Most of us also have brains capable of doing something advanced not just repeating one thing over and over again. Its closely tied to intelligence of an individual. Are you going to be a sheep and never do anything remarkable, whine how other maps are ****, disconnect/find other servers that play Muttrah and continue your boring life there OR accept the challenge of other maps, discovering new stuff, getting progressively better at all aspects, get some respect amongst the community etc.

I dont like Qwai and Ramiel at all. They look unfinished, forced, old, pick one or all. Guess what? I play them through. Okay, to be honest, if its late in the night and if the map will decide if i stay or hit the hay, those will definitely make me go to sleep. They however make no difference in the primetime of my play.

While yes, Hype can get someone to try something and/or know about it, hype certainly doesn't keep them playing it...
