I am on win 7 home edition 64 bit, on an Acer Aspire 5551g notebook. I recently reinstalled OS using software that came with the notebook, and when i downloaded bfmeshview 2.20, it refused to load up. Its a rather long history, so grab a popcorn and read on
First error it gave me was that a component comctl32.ocx is missing or not registered. I searched for the file in my system32 and SysWOW64 folders, and indeed it was missing. So I downloaded one from the internet and tried registering it. I couldnt register it in the system32 folder for some reason, but when i moved it into Syswow64, it registered there all right.
Next up bfmeshview missed comopnent comdlg32.ocx. So i downloaded it and registered it in Syswow64 in the same way as described above.
Now bfmeshview loads, but isnt wokring porperly. It loads staticmesh, I can see its info (number of LODs, materials, textures) on the left panel, but i cant see the actual mesh in the 3D window. When trying to open collisionmesh files, an error window appears (something about division by zero), same when i try to load up UV editor. When trying to generate lightmap samples for custom lightmap UVs, an error shows ("35 bad faces"), and it creates those samples, but they are corrupted.
I tried downloading latest versions of those .ocx file from internet, and what i have now is comctl32.ocx from 4/2005 and comdlg32.ocx from 3/2009. The application is still not working correctly.
Please someone save me, i really want to give this new static i made proper lightmap samples
