UAV with compass rose
Sometimes it is hard to post the targets you spot which UAV when you are commander, so the suggestion is quite simple give a camon rose when the UAV is active so you can spot the targets more easy.

I used the Commo Rose whilst playing Muttrah yesterday.. You can spot enemy Helos with it at least.
Hardest part was translating what the UAV saw to the Commander's Map (exact positions of enemy troops). And it was so annoying to have the 'Satellite Signal Lost' when trying to zoom in on the map.
Overall I quit the position!

For me on most maps its not hard to get a mark within 100m, and if its a city like muttrah I can get it dead on. You can spot aircraft that show up for you and friendlies close, and you can also spot emplacements at times, don't know why.

It's possible, I just found that it wasn't intuitive and it took a lot of switching back and forth - Basically I felt that I was 'working around' the game, instead of playing it.
I've never read the manual on the subject though, perhaps i'm missing something.

Its easy on Muttrah because of the variation in buildings, for example if you see a enemy apc next to a T-building its easy to get the correct position on the map.
But especialy on forrest maps its really hard.
UAV on Yamalia is almost useless for example.

On maps like yamalia, what you do is press Q and report contact then a red question mark will show up on the map on the selected location so you can see where it is

The question mark doesn't work when you're aiming directly at an enemy. Try putting it east of the enemy for example, and then estimate how for back west you have to put your spotted mark.

this plus spamming Report button...fillsson wrote:The question mark doesn't work when you're aiming directly at an enemy. Try putting it east of the enemy for example, and then estimate how for back west you have to put your spotted mark.
But there's no need for a Compass on the UAV if you can't see the enemy or friendlys, cause of the glithy UAV.
This is the main problem of being a commander using the UAV you can send troops to an empty zone or a full manned FOB and you're never sure...

Dont question the wikipedia! Just because it reports different things on different languages does not make it unreliable source!

Well, using thermal and uav make it easy for me, of course i can't see inside building, but guyz outside can't either, except of they get shot by a window.

He's talking about the known glitch with the UAV where you can be watching a full squad in the open and they randomly disappear, friendlies and enemies.

What is worse is commander or squad leader spots enemy whatever and the other squad members don't update the team on it's movement or update on the situation.chrisweb89 wrote:He's talking about the known glitch with the UAV where you can be watching a full squad in the open and they randomly disappear, friendlies and enemies.
"guys.. where is that BMP?"
SILENCE
"hello mic check.."
SILENCE
is the BMP still around village flag?"
SILENCE
"can some one tell me if..."

All you need to do is use basic map reading skills.
Most importantly relation.
Takes practice & possibly a lot of looking at the map but you don't necessarily need a compass. Just get your bearings.

That's a good idea, I don't think anyone considered that.

Yeah
The UAV does need some sort of compass when ever I am commander im constantly guesstimating directions for squads.
THIS WOULD WORK PERFECTLY

Re: UAV with compass rose
I always use the usual compass at the bottom. If I need a direction I look straight up to the horizon and you can read it from the compass below. Whats the problem with it?
E.g. you see a static friendly squad on yamalia. You see an enemy squad approaching their direction. You look at them, and then look up at the horizon at an angle your squad would need to look to see the enemy, and there you have the exact direction of the enemy. Its the same as if you work in fireteams in an INF squad and there is enemies approaching your other fireteam. You need to estimate the direction they would need to look at to see the enemy, so you do it, then take a look at your compass and tell them the exact direction of the enemy. Works with UAV aswell.

Re: UAV with compass rose
the Field of detection should be really low because if the commander just goes around spamming enemy spotted he will eventually catch an enemy or two. Unless it simply places an INF marker
