I bought ARMA2 to play PR when it was on sale. My problem is that I'm scared to try. (I know sounds dumb) I just remember playing the regular ARMA and being completely lost when it came to game mechanics. What I guess I need is to be paired with a buddy to teach me the ropes. I'd hate to join in and not no what the fuck I'm doing and be "that noob"

I'll play with you some day, although there arn't that many people who play it these days. And it seems like there arn't a lot of development going on for Arma 2 right now.

I think they're mostly waiting for Arma 3.

BF2, but you can't really compare these 2 games.

If you want to get some solid PvP in for Arma 2 I strongly suggest filtering for wasteland in the multiplayer list. It's not really team oriented but it can be, and there is a growing population and they are continually tweaking it depending on each server admins preferences.

Murphy wrote:Arma 2 is horrible for PvP, the hit registry is piss poor and 90% of the time you end up getting killed by the guy you just put 10 rounds into (I've recently raged from Wasteland mod for the last time, I'm done with A2 online). I think PR:A2 is pretty much a failed attempt to bring a better team play experience to a game that just sucks online, and I don't blame the PR:A2 devs they just picked a bad game to work with. BF2 may lack the graphics and immersion Arma 2 can provide but BF2 has a much better netcode and in all is just a better produced game giving the players smooth and functioning online battles.

I have hopes for Arma 3, maybe since DayZ has become so popular they will get some guys working on the netcode and the issues with multiplayer will be addressed.
I've got the exact same opinion. I honestly think it's a shame to have developed such a poor game under the name of 'war simulation' and sold it for that much at the begining. Arma seems to be a first alpha version of a decent FPS

Well you can't compare them, but that does not mean you can't have a preference. I'd take PR:BF2 a thousand times over, because it is so different from anything out there. PR:BF2 is now miles away from vanilla bf2, and any other mod (that I know of) for bf2.

PR:ArmA isn't that different from what's allready out there. PR:ArmA is still young, and I rather play ACE which is alot more developed.

While PR:ArmA is potentially more realistic, PR:BF2 is more refined, if I can put it this way. It therefore is more enjoyable for me.

If you hit someone in their nightvision googles, the nightvision googles will be broken. It's that much detailt. Ofcourse there will be a lot of haters around here who doesn't like this. But it's afterall time to move on to a new engine. A engine who can really bring life to Project Reality. A engine who can really show what Project Reality is all about.

Project Reality needs to move onto something new. The BF2 Engine is old, and used up. I believe 1.0 will be the last, and the most awesome release for the BF2 engine. I believe after that PR will move onto something new. Simply because the BF2 engine is now old and dull. They can't really modify it as much as they want.. Simply put. It's time we move onto something new, and I think the Arma 3 engine is just that.
Well, first off nightvision googles aren't made of solid kevlar or steel, and I stronly doubt the would stop a bullet. So that feature right there is pretty much ridicoulus.

Second off, there is no reason PR:BF2 won't live on past 1.0. Have you seen the wonders they have done? Things first not thought possible have been achieved through clever thinking. Yes, there are limitations, but there are no gamebreaking limitations. We don't need endless amounts of features, PR:BF2 is shaping up nicely, and there are few things I'd like to change. Having played since 0.5, PR on the ArmA engine doesn't feel like PR. (Yes, I know, I am conservative :p ) I pray everyday for the PR2, essentially feeling like the original, yet fixing the current problems of the BF2 engine.

Right now I prefer the BF2 version, but it has years more development. But I like the potential of the ARMA 2 version and the fact that the team accomplished a lot in such a short time.

Id like sound to finally run again in my ARMA 2 version and more team oriented players.

Prefer BF2PR - it has more dynamics, fast movements and action.

PR ArmA is sluggish and slow, awkward, plus that takistan and chernarus maps are soo boring. But major mood kill for me first time trying was enemy infantry warping in far distance, it was impossible to hit anything even with optic rilfles... They say it's fixed now, but... I don't have much willingness to try again, with previously said factors.

I dont know enough (nothing really) about PR:ARMA to comment so I will. I suspect (if its possible) if there was an exact clone or port of PR:BF to ARMA many ppl would switch (to ARMA) just for pretty gfx and familiarity of game/keys. Then once you got the weight of players one could tweak it any way the DEVs felt was right and we'd all be in for the ride.

What bothers me and is the reason to not buy Arma 2 is the third person view that is available in the game. I think it ruins games , because people will use it to peak around corners and walls. Is this possible in Arma :P R in later stages or Arma III ? Or even PR2

PR:ARMA disables the third person view for the reasons you stated above. So your reason not to try it is gone ;)
