[HELP] 3ds Max9 not responding.

I've got a serious problem.

I can't get my 3ds Max working. I'm on W7 64bit, i run the program on administrator and it just freezes. The program "opens" but when the "Welcome" window comes up, it freezes, not responding, stays there forever.

It's weird, because i was working with Max yesterday... I was modelling, rendering, etc just fine.

Since yesterday, all I've done in my PC was installing BF2Editor (No BF2 plugins for 3dsmax) last night and this morning I've updated my graphics card drivers (ATI Radeon HD 6850 1GB DDR5).

That's all I did since yesterday.


I've already uninstalled the program, twice, and the error persists. I run the program on Admin mode, Compatibility W XP Service Pack 3, nothing, W Vista Service Pack 2, nothing, disabling firewall/anti virus, nothing, adding exception of 3dsmax on Firewall, nothing.

My guess is that the new drivers messed up with the program... the installation itself was quite messy... what a shame! i was starting to like Modelling a lot! ):

aren't there some service packs for 3dsmax9 specifically? Maybe want to try those.

Hey, i haven't tried these yet.

But I've done this thing now.


I was searching on my "Uninstall Programs" list and found out that i still had Nvidia drivers from my old graphics card, for the sake of it, i uninstalled them. My PC is acting weird now, but 3dsmax doesn't freeze anymore. In fact, i can now close the Welcome window, but the program is laggy, very laggy. The whole PC is laggy, its like when you don't have a graphics card or something, everything moves weird.

Let me solve this problem now and i'll get back to this 3dsmax problem

Edit:

Thread can be locked, problem solved.

I uninstalled all my Nvidia drivers that were on my PC, reinstalled my ATI drivers and the program works again!.

I haven't tried GP_MineralWouter's links tho, thanks anyways

Definitely install 3ds max 9 service pack 2 as well if you haven't already

I don't have a solution for your 3ds max 9, but I can help you fix your GPU drivers issues.

Download Treexy Driver Fusion:
Products - List of all products made by Treexy

Make sure you know where your newest driver installation files are located.

Install Driver Fusion,
Follow the directions in the My Way directions at this link:

Oh, you can use Driver Fusion to clean up any remaining hidden files on your PC too.

EDIT: I was meaning to say " you can use Driver Fusion to clean up any remaining hidden AMD GRAPHICS DRIVER files on your PC too.

Be careful using Driver Fusion, you can easily delete required drivers for any and all of your hardware components and subcomponents.

I just had this EXACT problem last night.
I assume your running the 32 bit as well, if that's the case, make sure to get the x32 hotfix
