Vehicle Warfare
Hey all, was just wondering what your thoughts are on vehicle warfare and how game play is with that in PR. I'm asking because I'm probably doing this in my map as there is alot of open area and am curious on how players really use their assets and vehicles. Anyone played the tank warfare event there was a while ago?

I played in that event. I thought it went well and functions properly. Unclear to me why it isn't more popular.

It's a beautiful gameplay style in organized events or clan matches where the teams are balanced.
ON FULL public servers it's a different story, imbalances get multiplied very quickly due to the respawn rates of the tanks. If in the first 16 tanks v 16 tanks engagement, if Blufor wins and has 8 tanks standing, they'll be able to role all the way to the Opfor's main, and when the Opfor tanks start respawning in dribs and drabs, the Blufor don't care if they lose their remaining 8 original tanks, because of the time multiplier effect.
On less than full Public servers the time multiplier effect diminishes as there is always more assets waiting in main.

Well I'm trying to figure out how I need to set my map up so that I can get the full extent of vehicle/teamwork going on

Armour combat in PR isnt that great, I think. Tanks die in 1-2 hits, and the engagement ranges are relatively short. VW is kind of fun, but I can imagine it gets old kinda fast.
Its usually with tanks though, never seen it with only APCs, that would be interesting.

heck, I remember that event, 25vs25 tanks. I thought it was pretty epic
It is a nice gamemode, but only for a relaxed and fun round, nothing serious. Doesn't fit in with normal layouts. But I can feel that a lot of people like armor so maybe at 1.0 we'll see some Vehicle warfare servers only?

I was in that event also. The first 20 min where fun....then it turned meh!! It kinda felt like vbf2.
I also recon that it would be more fun with VW if its with vehicles that don't have ATGM's though and has to stop to shoot one round like tanks. APC warfare with fast wheeled vehicles would be more fun imo... instead of 1 shot kills with tank warfare which of-course is realistic but its damn boring to drive to the battlefield for the 50th time in the same round only to see a black-screen of death from a atgm
) without having to switch seats exposing myself and loosing my ability to use optics (has it been suggested to add a commander seat in the vehicle that the driver could use to turn off the engine?)

I think the people who like armor, like it because it sometimes gives a feeling of superior force like with an abrams on insurgency. Yes, it's been suggested already but it got denied because it's unrealistic to turn off your engine while being in the middle of the battlefield.
