PR Just goes CTD when I click on "Join game"

Hi,
I made this thread because I don't found an answer in other threads.
When I try to join an server I get the known "your connection get lost" PB error.
But when I try the next time the game loads nomally and it takes two minutes to the "JOIN GAME" button. But when I click on it, screen goes black and then PR goes CTD.
This is the first time I play PR, I like it very much, I have some mods (Nuke mod, Assault mod, SF64, SP64, AF64 and EF64), and I edited the Kits in the objects_server.zip in the mods/bf2 folder. I have no more Mods.
What should I do?

I think there are some problems with registry files,did u tryed to reinstall the game?

Hi,

You're saying that it's the first time that you play PR, so it may be a stupid question but is it on all maps and servers that you have this problem? are you sure that you have the good patch 0.981? have you tried reinstalling this patch?

in the directory BF2\mods\pr there is a file called PRError.log . Open it and copy the last entries on the bottom of the page and paste to this thread.

The two minute delay is due to the large number of favorite servers you have stored in your BF2 config files.

Search for the "General.con" in

C:\Documents and Settings\*******\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\000X
or
C:\Users\*******\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\000X

open it with WordPad or NotePad and delet all entries starting with:

"GeneralSettings.addServerHistory"

like this one:

"GeneralSettings.addServerHistory "217.146.93.112" 29900 "*** MeRkpr.co.uk TEAMWORK SERVER ***" 140"

If you dont want any favorites you can write protect the General.con

Dont just copy paste this, but adjust to your install location. Make sure you don't omit quotation marks or it wont work.
If you start in windowed mode and it CTDs, a Message will pop up telling you the problem. Take a screenshot or write this down and post it to this thread.

Please read through this and make sur you installed correctly:

Was BF2 installed and working before you installed PR? Was BF2 patched to 1.5 ?
Can you log in to vanilla BF2?
If BF2 was already working, we'll suggest one course of action. (Could be firewall/antivirus/router/installation error/etc)
IF BF2 was just installed NOW so you can play PR, all the parts have to be installed in proper order.
Please read below and make sure you installed BF2 and PR in this order:

Here is the installation guide in tl;dr format:

Install BF2.
Run BF2.
Note the version number on the bottom left corner of the log-in screen. Write it down.
log in or create a user account.
join online game.
adjust your audio and video settings now for convenience.
exit BF2.
Reboot.

(Optionally if you bought it) install Special Forces Addon.
Run BF2.
log in.
join online game.
exit BF2.
Reboot.

install 1.41 FULL PATCH.
Run BF2.
log in.
join online game.
exit BF2.
Reboot.

install 1.5 PATCH.
Run BF2.
log in.
join online game.
exit BF2.
Reboot.

Download and install 0.973 full installer.
Start the PR shortcut on desktop.
log in.
exit PR.

Download and install the PR 0.973 to 0.981 Patch
(If it CTDs, Edit the PR shortcut as described below.)
Start the PR shortcut on desktop.
log in.
join online game.

If you crash at the splash screen, or the screen goes black and then crashes to desktop, try to start PR in windowed mode by following the directions below:

Yep this seems like its the cause of your problem. Basically the BF2 engine is having trouble running its network manager ... and this explains why you crash only connecting to the internet.

As this is a BF2 issue, it wont matter how often you reinstall PR, as the cause lies with BF2.

I suggest trying to reinstall BF2 after first uninstalling it and cleaning any references you can find to it in the registry (with CCleaner or similar program) (ask if you need more details). Because it seems as though your path to either BF2 or your path to the 1.5 patch is extremely odd and non standard. It is possible that your patch has installed in the wrong place due to an old registry entry that is confusing your system when you try to do a clean reinstall. So just reinstalling might not fix it without getting rid of all BF2 references from your registry after uninstalling.

But I have the BF2 complete collection version 1.5 from STEAM... I haven't installed any patch! And I cant play bf2 Vanilla too.

PS: And the path in the error isn't existing...

(I'm downloading it from steam now. I have to wait 3-4 hours, then see what happens...)

The problem is solved in the way what is described above.
