Buildable sandbags

Post by JackONeill »

There is one pretty basic thing that I feel is missing from the buildable emplacements: pure sandbags. I am not thinking like foxholes or HESCOs, but a 6-7 meter long line of 0,75 meters tall wall of sandbags.
Like razorwires/tank barriers, but bulletproof and you are able to take cover behind them, if you go prone/crouch. I think you should be able to place an equal number of these as you can build razorwires.

Any good feedback/improvments are very welcome.
I am probably not able to code this myself, so...

Something like this:

I approve this suggestion.

(I guess you would still be able to jump over them)

I don't see why not, but I also can't see why? It of-course would be a very nice addition but is there a need for it? Sure there are some maps that provide less cover, but usually the terrain, man made or natural cover or the emplacements we have now provide quite a lot of cover already. So why the need for additional? Never saw the need for it while player actually. And it will never really work. Cause if you make it to high, then you cant shoot over it when crouched, and when it's too low, then it doesn't really provide cover when crouched. Unfortunately PR doesn't offer many different player stances to take good use of these types of cover.

I like the idea except for the stupid fact that deployables dont like to be deployed next to each other -_____-

^ This. Even though you can just make a pile of dirt like on the foxhole that makes it possible to climb on even if it's not perfectly deployed.

I like this idea though but it would be a lot of work for basically nothing, it would be just cosmetic. I would still prefer the foxholes in any case as it provides 360? protection against mortar attacks.

After some practice you can get pretty good at it.

And the fact that they only provide a tiny bit cover when crouched, but to get 100%cover you will need to go prone would be the most optimal.

Potentially the collision mesh could be made such that it was a little shorter on each side of the static, meaning it would be able to intersect slightly with others, or be placed flush with walls. Not entirely sure though.

How about having 2-3 variants; 1 piece, 2 pieces stuck together and a corner piece. It's not perfect but it might prove more effective than spending half an hour trying to get two single pieces together.

think i would have to say yes to this, you could maybe make them shorter than a crouching player, and say that you can build a few of them with just one crate, not much cover but atleast its something.

I have always wanted more FOB defenses since I set up nice defensive FOBs all the time, I approve!

I think this would be nice to have in PR. the only thing I would like is that it should be easier to place fob defenses close to each other.

Be able to deploy a small one from something like a Humvee or Troop Transport truck? Those things would carry a couple of sandbags wouldn't they? Put it down when you stop in an area to cap a flag for instance.

Yeah, there were. I wouldn't mind having both, but honestly the foxholes suffice for the vast majority of situations, at least in my experience.

It would be good if you could dig a foxhole in any soft ground with a shovel without crates.
