Infantry Only (sv.noVehicles)

Just wondering if it would be possible to update the PR maps to respond to the new infantry only feature of the EA 1.4 patch.

Not sure if this is something is easy enough to update myself so that i can easily switch back and forth without having to have "edited" map files (like iGi server) as well as the orignal map files.

should already work.. er at least I thought I set it up and tested it to work with v0.32.

We leave in Light and Heavy Jeeps as well as any transport helos.

Maybe so, I probably didn't notice because I was testing on 16 player maps.

My guess is the reason I didn't notice any difference on 16 player map with sv.noVehicles on or off is because the 16 player map already has the vehicles that would be removed by sv.noVeheicles 1 removed in the map itself by default.

Yeah we use sv.novehicles 1 Dizzy but eggman put in some tweaks in 0.32 so it keeps the jeeps/transport heli's.

I actually tried to edit the server files to remove the jeeps as well on one map but it didn't work for some reason so I gave up...

So you guys aren't running with mod'd map hacks anymore. Just standard PR maps with sv.noVehicles 1 ???


Not sure if this is even possible, but could you make another flag called sv.noArmor so that sv.noVehicles could be used for infantry only and sv.noArmor set to what sv.novehicles is at now??

No you can't create another parameter, but what you can do is edit the map files to remove all vehicles, then edit the gamelogicinit.con to remove only armored vehicles (or whatever ones you want removed).

in mine map as a means of balacing is added artillery, if server has no vheicles ON withouth arty will map be crippled... :cry:

Well most of the mappers have made the 16 player versions ture infantry only, meaning not even a unicycle. Also, I dont think I would want to run a 32 player map infantry only, so the tweaks eggman made for noVehicles would be perfect for 32 player size. The are also some 16 man maps that are the same size as the 32 player maps, but they usually have vehicles (which is a good thing) so I dont think I'm going to mess with the default setup.

Ill just run noVehicles 1 and let it ride..... 8)
