Moar Maps

Post by Bluedrake42 »

Can we have more maps?
I know there's more...
we only play... like what... 20 maps?
out of probably about... 100+ that have been released since PR .01?

Can we get all those? I don't care if I have to download like... a 10gb file
I mean hell Teamfortress 2 is 14gb... that's kindof the new standard.

So yeah... could we just get... everything?
All the BF2 vanilla maps, all the holiday maps,
all the finished community maps, all the official old PR maps... All of it
Hell ask the AIX guys if you can use their maps, and lets convert and throw those in

Like come on man... I'll freaking pay you lol

I'm currently working on converting all vBF2 maps into PR, not so hard, but I always wanted to know how is it to play PR on BF2 maps.

Maybe you don't mind 10gb (it would be way more than that) but some people with crappy connection do. (Australians lol)

Ive lived with 120kbps connection for quite a while and got stuff slowly.. took me 3 days to get some bigger stuff downloaded, including PR.

It's not just speed though, for example, I get max of about 200kb/s, and am limited to 60gb downloads per month.

It's also a matter of quality over quantity.

I have some converted maps from vBF2 and many other mods. They're all for co-op. It takes me about 5-10 minutes to convert one. If you're interested pm me and I'll send some to you this weekend.

yeah I understand that, but sometimes I just want variety, even if some of them suck
I'm not saying release all the maps with the next release, but can we at least make like... an online archive of all the maps that made it into PR that everyone can download from? Just for special events, lan parties, etc?

Like dude some of those holiday maps were GOOD
And I can't even find a download for them anymore

Don't worry Bluedrake. AfterDune stated that there will be at least 26 maps in this update

10gb isn't too bad as long as it's in a torrent and not a regular thing :D

All I want from vbf2 is zatar wetlands with the counterattack mode. Freaking epic that was.

Personally I see no problem with shoving a few old and vbf2 maps back into PR, especially if modified for view distances etc and even perhaps new lighting.

However, the number of maps to install at once has to be managable for the PR installer size :)

On my old HD I'd put about 5 vbf2 maps in to my PR version so that I could play them on COOP with PR stuff (though the layout of flags and objects was in the vbf2 configuration, just the objects were PR) and it was a good laugh. GB on Tarbara quarry was cool.

I've learned over time there can be alot of good in vbf2 maps, as mappers get more technically skilled, they see it more and more (though sometimes you find their mistakes and laugh)

its a shame that cooperative servers always play the same maps and never the ones from the mappacks

Ukrealplay makes a good point, if you want it start doing it Im sure you will have a lot of help and it isn't really that hard, just requires a bit of dedication.
Take a bit of time from your PR playing and start learning and doing it if just some people of the community does it we would have a ton of maps no time :-P

How about just making a optional map pack download with all the maps that doesn't fit in the original PR folder?
