PR on MAC crashing

Post by ShogunMange »

I have installed Windows XP on my iMAC and when i play PR it crashes randomly. Sometimes i can play 5 minutes and sometimes i can play for 2-3 hours. I can Battlefield2 without any problems. I also play ARMA2 and its mods without any problems. Anyone who knows why PR is crashing???

Perhaps spmething went wrong with the install. I'd try to uninstall and reinstall, see if the proem still exists. If it does be sure to report back your mac specs. Ram, Cpu speed,Graphics card etc:

I have already tried to reinstall Windows and PR. My specs are: processor - 2.8 GHz Intel Core i5, Ram - 8GB 1333 MHz DDR3, Graphics - ATI Radeon HD 5750 1024 MB and my speed is possible 4.8GT/s, is that right? :)

Your specs look like they should be running the game fine.

Try running the game in windowed mode, when it CTD you should get a dialog box with some error data.
Here is a thread that shows how to run in windowed mode.
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f370-p ... -mode.html

Also, the 2.8 GHz is the speed of your CPU, guess I should have just said what CPU you have.

You could also look in the Event Viewer to see if it captured the fault when it CTD'd

Here's how to open the viewer:
•Open Event Viewer by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, clicking Administrative Tools, and then double-clicking Event Viewer.‌ If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

or just click the orb(Start button) and type Event Viewer and you should see it come up in the program list.

He is not getting CTD, the computer freezes and there is an endless soundloop. The only thing he can do is to pull the plug from the computer (not possible to hard reboot)

Im his friend btw

The only thing i can think about is that it is some kind of error regarding either sound/graphic drivers..
all suggestions are welcome, we need help :(

I remember some posts about this description. hang on,
back;

There was this thread:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f26-pr ... oblem.html

and this one:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f200-p ... ockup.html

search through those. I think the jsut of it is to change the audio settings from hardware to software or vice/versa and disabling eax?
Read through the threads, they should help, they are full of confirmed fix posts.

Yes, I'm almost certain that SnipeHunt is correct,

easiest way to do it is to go and open in Notepad this file:

Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\Default\Audio.con
AudioSettings.setVoipEnabled 1
AudioSettings.setVoipPlaybackVolume 1
AudioSettings.setVoipCaptureVolume 1
AudioSettings.setVoipCaptureThreshold 0.0392215
AudioSettings.setVoipBoostEnabled 1
AudioSettings.setVoipUsePushToTalk 1
AudioSettings.setProvider "software"
AudioSettings.setSoundQuality "Low"
AudioSettings.setEffectsVolume 1
AudioSettings.setMusicVolume 0.33
AudioSettings.setHelpVoiceVolume 1
AudioSettings.setEnglishOnlyVoices 0
AudioSettings.setEnableEAX 0
Next, go and open in Notepad the Audio.con file in each of his profiles:
such as A:\Users\Keifer\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001\Audio.con
A:\Users\Keifer\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0002\Audio.con

and adjust to the same.

That should get you into BF2 and PR and you can then test to see if you can use Hardware Audio and Medium settings.

If he uses HDMI audio he can also use that as his primary speakers and proceed from there.

We have tried the soundthing that snipe talked about but have not tried going in to notepad. But the strage thing is that shogunMange recently bought a pair of new headphones (logitech g35) that uses usb, and he havent experienced any crashes.

'[R-COM wrote:LITOralis.nMd;1863940']I have G35 headset which is usb
That is the problem.

https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... ng-up.html

to fix this, you have to disable the G35 sound manager (should have an icon in the system tray) BEFORE you start PRmumble and PR.

Always disable G35 sound manager before starting PRMumble and PR.
Always run PRMumble as admin.
Always run PRMumble before PR.
Always run PR as admin.
The problem is the G35 headphones.

It's a known issue.

Here is another solution:
I found a quick soloution to my mumble problem, all i have to do is change my Audio Output device to another listed-apply then change it back to my preferred device.
