Granades

Post by Valtasar »

Here's my idea.
When you whant to throu a granade and you pull the ring out, but got shot and die. How obout let it fall daun and axplode. It's more realistik that way.
Sorry for my English

I think this has been looked into and found to be a BF2 bug (just like the dissappearing missiles) A dev will have to confirm that though.

a regular grenade has a kill radius of 190 meters ?
what is the kill radius in the game ? 5m ?
I would just like the stamina bar for the low throws, i can only drop the nade or throw full strength no matter which mouse button i use.

In Prmm we use the m-67 Fragmentation grenade.

It is made of stamped sheet metal inside of which is a wire with serrations in it. (Imagine coiling a coathanger around a doorknob, then notching it all overwith a dremel ; thats what the fragmentation sleeve looks like). When the explosive filler is detonated by an M-213 fuse (5 seconds, supposedly) the fragmentation sleeve breaks along the serrations and VERY small pieces of metal are thrown in a 360 degree radius.

There is six and a half ounces of composition B (RDX, like C4) explosive inside it.

It has a killing radius of 15 feet. This means you will likely die if you are in the open (no cover) and one detonates within this range. Within this range the grenade is an effective concussion weapon. Your ears will bleed and you'll be dizzy even if you have taken cover from the steel rain.

It has an effective radius of 50 feet. This means that you have a 50% chance of a boo-boo if you are exposed and within this radius. Survivability is a reasonable probability.

HOWEVER, fragments can fly very far away in the right circumstances. So the safe distance for a grenade is 1,000 feet. I think it is the M-213 fuse head that flies that far. Usually, I noticed that the spent fuses were left almost entirely intact after detonation of the grenade.

Two ways to kill people in BF2, bullets and blasts. The grenades we use currently have an explosion radius and force. The computer checks for line-of-sight from the center of the radius to your character's hit model and decides how far you are from the blast, and from that, how much damage you would take. I don't like this method much myself, and would prefer a combination of a blast and fragmentation represented by a burst of "bullets" being fired at all angles from the detonating grenade, capable of penetrating certain materials. Even nicer would be "bouncing" bullets that careen off of surfaces like M203 rounds until they run out of steam or hit something squishy, but that would be even more CPU intensive...

has anyone noticed that when you throw a frag grenade in PR it actually throws two grenades and then one disappears?

Maybe it's just me...

Don't forget being squished, knifed or falling from a height.
