Can't play vanilla anymore

Post by Ewokinarmor »

As much as I love PR, sometimes I just like to take a break and play a bit of vanilla multiplayer. However, my disc drive is somehow broken (wont open, E drive is missing), so my usual plan of reinstalling the game without any patches or PR is out. I do this because for some weird reason, no matter what I do, when I hit the 1.4/1.5 update and try to join a server, it says my CD key is invalid. My copy is not pirated, and I am using a legitimate CD code from a hard copy of BF2: the Complete Collection. Does anyone know how can I bypass this problem without having to uninstall PR?

You should elaborate as to what fixed the problem so as to possibly assist others in the future.
