i have an attack 3 stick i've succesfully used for flying jets and driving, however i cant seem to set the "roll" left and right for helicopters. no matter what i try it gives me the message "duplicate key found in helicopter controls" despite not having anything else using it.

again the settings have been made fine for planes, but for some reason wont work for chopper

Have you tried directly copying the relevant control lines from your aircraft section to your helicopter section in your Controls.con?

Short of that, have you tried resetting all your controls and starting from scratch?

i have attempted wiping the slate clean and starting from scratch which did not work, however i did not know about the controls.con method, i'll give this a try thanks.

i notice i have multiple control folders and .con files, where directory should i be worrying about?

The default Controls.con in Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\Default\

and the Controls.con in each of your BF2 profiles you use , i.e. each profile has a subdirectory Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001 , \Profiles\0002 , etc.

after comparing the lines for air and helicopter in controls.con for about an hour today, i finally realized that directory you mentioned was under "users\***\mydocuments\battlefield2..." and not under "programfiles\eagames\battlefield2"

i was never really a computer savvy person knew enough to get by

thanks, i have finally got it setup properly! now i can fly a transport from time to time when there's nothing else to do!
