Intel HD 4000 or AMD APU PR Performance

Post by Spyker2041 »

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone uses Intel HD 4000 graphics or an AMD APU to play PR with. Am looking at doing a build in an ISK 110 case so can only use integrated graphics. Please let me know what the CPU model is too if you do use one of these 2 graphics solutions.

Thanks

Most certainly go with the AMD APUs.
OR, wait a few months and go with the Haswell Mini-ITX BGA 1150 CPUs with Intel HD 4500 or HD 5200 graphics.
Or wait a few weeks and get the updated AMD A10.

I'm excited by both the just released AMD APU A10 and A8 update, and the June release of the BGA Haswells with upgraded integrated graphics. I'm prepping to build a HTPC using the M350 Universal Mini-ITX enclosure.

The pricing that has been released for Haswell seems a bit steep for me. I am just curious to see how the fairly lackluster CPU power of the APUs hold up in PR and the average GPU performance of the HD 4000 holds up too. I will be looking at getting the next set of APUs that come out, just wondering for reference how well the 7660d does with PR.

I have heard good things about the M350 case, I just love the looks of the ISK 110 :)

Spyker, I forgot to mention, I've been leading a conversation about ovreclocking the A10-5800k for several months, people are getting some really good results, you'll need to read the entire thread to understand some of the problems and solutions, and limitations of the overclocking of the A10:
A10-5800k with RAM OC'ed to 2400 and OC'ed HD6670 in Crossfire, Anyone try this yet? Any Benchmarks?

(Note, most people are using the mATX mobos in that thread. You probably need the A85 or A85X chipset, leaving only the microITX ASRock FM2A85X-ITX as a mobo choice)

There might be other A85 mITX mobos, like Zotac, and the ASRock A85, but I haven't looked into it in a few months.

Asrock FM2A85X-ITX is apparently good, do NOT buy the Asrock FM2A75 mITX motherboard, it reguarly fries APUs and literally catches on fire.

Asrock FM2A85X-ITX - the ultimate FM2 ITX mobo to lust for?
I haven't really dabbled into overclocking as I haven't ever needed to, with the APU I see the benefits though. The ISK110 doesnt have a expansion slot so I can't do dual graphics, with regards to motherboards I never buy anything other for a gigabyte or asus, never had issues with either of those and the capacitors are always good quality solid caps.

I frequent oc.net too hehe, dont post much though!
