New PC Build

Post by SnipeHunt »

Just got my new build up and running. Have not tried PR yet, still downloading updates/programs etc. I will update after a few rounds to report how well it runs.
My old PC ran PR and BF3 mostly high. I expect this one to be able to handle anything current.

All links are to NEWEGG for simplicity. I got most of it from Newegg, but not all.

The biggest reason I upgraded was for storage. I did not have the room in my old PC case for more than 2 HDDs. Now I have 4 2TB HDDs in RAID5 and the SSD for my OS. I was planning on getting the I7 3930 6 core CPU, but it never went on any good sales(everything I purchased was on a sale or discount of some sort) and I got the I7 3820 for half the price of the 3930. Hopefully intel keeps making desktop CPUs for the 2011 socket.

The whole build cost me approx. $1763.00 I was hoping to be under 1500.00,
Best line yet...

Thumbs up!

Hope you find yourself a I7-3930k sometime soon.

If you ever venture to L.A. , the Microcenter store in Tustin sells the 3930k for $500+CA tax every day

Nice build, would have personally gone with a m-atx or mini-itx case capable of holding 4 drives and gone for WD over Seagate but each to their own.

Enjoy your build!

The case size didnt matter. It is inside a cabinet, my old full tower case(Antec 1200) fit fine. I would/should have used my old case, but didnt want to remove the radiator/water cooling stuff and dissassemble the system.
