Just a minor suggestion:
I've noticed that when people have their weapons ready in PR, they hold them in a "low ready" position, meaning that they have lowered the barrel of the rifle (which is realistic, because IRL you wouldn't be able to nonstop keep your weapon raised. That would be stupid as well, because you would muzzle-sweep your friendlies all the time).
If you take aim (using the sights of the rifle), the soldier models show that correctly.
But that is limited to the third person view.
In the first person view, your weapon is always in a high ready position. I always find that annoying in first person shooters, only ArmA allows you to lower your weapon (as far as I know).
Why not change the first person view? Keep the weapon low, only raise it when looking through your sights or when shooting from the hip.
- Larger field of view, because your weapon isn't blocking a part of your view anymore
- More immersive / realistic
- First person view would actually reflect the third person view of the player
- Can't really think of any cons, except that the nice first person weapon models are less visible ingame
[delete this thread if it was already discussed, I couldn't find a similiar thread when seaching]

Re: Different first person view for weapons
If I am correct, the player's camera is really located somewhere around is chest area. This goes farther along to create problems where the enemy sees your head but all you see is wall/rock/bush. So even when the rifle is lowered, it still seems high.
I might be wrong though.

Re: Different first person view for weapons
It would require new first person animations for all weapons. And that's just not going to happen, it's fine the way it is. Besides, you're in a hostile environment so you keep your weapon ready - at least that's how I think about it.
That, and the engine doesn't really support it. I guess you could pull it off with some trickery though, but still.

Re: Different first person view for weapons
Chuc did consider this iirc before redoing all the 1p animations, at the same he did the 3p animations with the weapons lowered but it wasn't an option, iirc, due to the fact that when you shoot your weapon doesn't flow upwards nicely to a shooting position, it just goes there instantly if your "firing from the hip", which it also dose in 3p but isn't such an issue in the 3p view since its not right in your face when it happens and normally your not looking at other players up close when it dose happen.[R-DEV]AfterDune wrote:It would require new first person animations for all weapons. And this has what excatly to do with this suggestion?CrazyHotMilf wrote:i think it would be nice to have a barrel aiming , so insted of alternative sights , you could just aim with the side of the gun / barrel and its gonna be awesome for close range fights
If you want to make a suggestion, make a new topic and if its a good one, it will get approved, if not, it won't so don't try and get around it by putting suggestions in other suggestion topics, or even other topics...
