Poor performance with decent rig

Post by todaytiger12 »

Recently my performance in-game has dropped. On some maps i get a stable 60 fps, but on maps like Fallujah West and Korengal Valley, i get 20-30 fps (more details I guess). In games like BF3 i get 120 fps on low...

My rig:
Amd Phenom II X4 965 3.8 ghz
Geforce gtx 560ti OC
8gb RAM
500W PSU
Win7

What can be the problem? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Win 7 64 bit? Just to be sure...

If not, you should install 64 bit version or try this:

Yes, I have 64-bit, but PR doesn't use more than 1,2 gb RAM anyways...

Mostly due to poor optimization of the statics in some of those maps, i.e. everyone who plays PR is experiencing relatively similar FPS drops on those maps.

For the most part, this is due to CPU bottlenecks,
You can,
-unpark your CPU cores,
-give PR.exe and BF2.exe high priority
Use Bitsum ProcessLasso to do so.
3. Download Bitsum ProcessLasso Free. Make sure you download the correct version, Free 32 bit or Free 64 bit, Process Lasso - Automate and optimize priorities, CPU affinities, power profiles, and much more!
-- Start PR, alt tab to desktop, open ProcessLAsso window, right click on PR.exe, TR.exe, BF2.exe, and pnkbstra.exe and pnkbstrB.exe and give them default priority status of High, set the Tr PR and BF2 to gaming mode, and give them high or higher access to RAM.
Also, within ProcessLasso, you can unlock your CPU cores:
Here is a guide:
Disable CPU Core Parking Real-Time - No Reboot

I see you already OC your 965 , if you can get any higher it also helps.

It's strange, since it is already a quad core, and even intel dual cores run the game (and those maps) fine with enough RAM and decent graphics card...

Playing on Muttrah City now after I've applied all the settings in Bitsum ProcessLasso, my FPS ranges now from 40 to 90 on medium settings.

So, quite good, huh? (Only the 40 fps is still weird with your specs... GTX 560ti OC should do more frames, maybe it's just your AMD core... :/ )

It must be my AMD core, since the gpu usage is 11-13%...

I have disabled the core parking, yes. PR still runs with huge frame drops in cities :(
