Laggy kits?

Post by SANGUE-RUIM »

was messing around in a local server, by myself in ramiel

grabbed the chopper and dropped in the city

grabbed a sniper and then an AR kit... my FPS went to 30 or less
grabbed a normal rifleman AT, it went back to 60 (I have adaptative vsync on, so its ok)
I didnt move around the map, just changed kits and the FPS changed that way

Then I walked a little... with the sniper and AR kits it was veeery laggy
with the other kits, it was fine... and I walked the same path with all the kits

I was not recording, and I have a good GPU (GTX 660ti - latest drivers)... the rest of the PC is also good
of course I play everything maxed out, with Antialiasing 32X CSAA and everything possible on the highest, but why such incredible drop in FPS just because of a kit?

thank u guys

That's very strange for you to be experiencing a PR kit FPS drop, or even a FPS drop at all with your gaming rig set up. Are you sure the FPS drop was caused by changing kits or was there something running in the background? It could be just a coincidence that your FPS dropped the same time as you picked up the kit.

yes its the kit, because I tested several times, i didnt move, i was standing still looking the same direction

when i pick the kit up, my FPS goes down
when i drop the kit, its ok

however I decided to test in another MAP (Gaza Beach this time) and it didnt happen
I tried with the HAMAS' Marksman kit, and it was ok, no change in FPS... Ill test other kits later

I also use win7 - 64 bit

who knows

So those FPS drops occurs when you are carring certain weapons? It could be because there are more detailed, or less optimized.

Check the driver options of your device, see if there is a any options enabled or disabled that could affect your performance. Also, just a quick question, but why do you play with Low settings when you specificity told us that your PC can handle high settings?

the driver options are on DEFAULT, but even if i change things there it doesn't matter...

i dont play on LOW... i play on HIGH...

i just changed to LOW to record this video... but i also recorded in HIGH with anti-aliasing 8X.... and it was the same problem.... but i decided to upload just this one, since they were identical in FPS....

i also tested with anti-aliasing 32x (via VGA driver) and anisotropic filtering 16x (via VGA driver) and it also was the same FPS...

thx

I'm surprised a DEV has not responded to you yet. Maybe I'm wrong but here is my theory so far. 1. You probably have one of your settings on the graphics card not set to optimal. Often times is has to do with one of the card's optimization settings. for amd it can be the amd optimization, for nvidia it can be a couple things. but no. 2 and most important is that your basing your fps off of not moving, your just sitting there. The gun's movement animation only has so many frames, so your only going to get so many fps because that's the only thing changing the number of frames. Do the same test but try moving around and you'll probably get more fps, or about the same, or little less.

can you post all of your nvidia settings and also your monitor settings... what is your Hz? 60? 70? 75? 80? 120?

if I move around, i get even worse FPS (around 3-8 less)
but if I change to another weapon, lets say Rifleman kit, I get over 60 FPS... moving around or standing still... it doens't matter

I've tried anything in the Nvida control panel, but it doesn't affect anything at all
Before this GPU, I had a GTX 295... and it was the same nightmare :(

here's wat u asked for, I think that would be all, and my Monitor is 60Hz:

EDIT: for the most part, I get awesome FPS... it is just maps like Ramiel, Kokan, Fallujah that it is horrible

It's ok, everyone gets lower FPS in Fallujah, Ramiel, and Kokan due to the lack of optimizations. Don't worry though, devs have made changes to these maps in 1.0 designed to improve the overall fps and performance.

i still believe that the kit also needs tweaking
going from 72 FPS (shovel) to 30 (gun) is horrible

well, thx and i look forward to 1.0

Change these following things to start:

multiple display mode to single display mode.
adaptive power to prefer maximum performance.
triple buffering on
vertical sync force on

i would also increase all your settings to high quality, high/max because this system should be MORE than capable. you listed your cpu at over 3ghz but how many cores, cache size?

hi thx again
I did everything u told... but it didnt change (still low FPS with the AR kit and high FPS with other kits, or the shovel)

my CPU is running in stock (3600Mhz), its 4 cores:

FX 4100 3.6/3.8 Ghz (L2 4MB) (L3 8MB) socket AM3+ 95W 32nm SOI

thx anyways, but I think its not the system, its opitimization.... gonna wait for 1.0 to fix that

thx
