[Request] Thunder strom skydome
Something based around the lines of this.
http://www.wunderground.com/data/wximag ... 00/133.jpg
Saved as a saved as a 2048x512 .dds file. Feel free to make it your own, doesn't have to be an exact copy of what is above, just as long as it looks realistic obviously.
Its for shikotan's storm sky, and help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: [Request] Thunder strom skydome
For people willing to help, but no clue how to make skydomes for BF2/PR, I can suggest this:
FH2 mapping tutorials - Convert your Terragen cube cross skies to bf2 hemispherical format
Not really the terragen(not sure if you can even make thunder in terragen) part, mostly about what size it is, how it is exported etc.

You can search here:
WallpapersWide.com | Free HD Desktop Wallpapers for Widescreen
Find one with a good enough Res and then just crop the bottom if needed. That's what I did for some of my skydomes.

inside the skytexture it would look weird as it wouldn't move. But as an effect it's definitely possible. Doesn't the normandy map have it already? Same as the '3d' clouds on Kashan, a lot is possible with effects. Just drains a lot of resources.

Yes, however I am using CG, not CC, 'm pretty sure I have seen it during my testing to do what looks like CC.Kovanaama wrote:Had a little idea here.. is BF2 engine capable to make lightings inside the clouds/sky?
This is the best I could get for cloud to cloud, you might be able to do something else with it, or just change the actual ground strike effect into a area in the clouds lighting up.
Xfire - Videos: Battlefield 2 - 2013-06-02 22:49
However, I didn't change any values to try and do it, this is just what happens with no cloud layers.
I'm sure if you just change the lightning scale CC could be achieved.
Code: Select all
rem ******** Thunder And Lightning ********
weatherManager.stormEnabled 1
weatherManager.lightningMaxInterval 40
weatherManager.lightningMinInterval 10
weatherManager.lightningDuration 0.72
weatherManager.lightningScale 33/1250
weatherManager.lightningColor 0.85/0.95/1/1
weatherManager.lightningMinPos -300/0/300
weatherManager.lightningMaxPos -900/0/900
weatherManager.lightningBlendOutTIme 0.6
weatherManager.lightningPertubation 20
weatherManager.lightningSegments 25
weatherManager.inFadeSegments 5
weatherManager.lightningGroundPenetration 80
weatherManager.doubleStrikeProbability 0.1
weatherManager.doubleStrikeMinDelay 1.0
weatherManager.doubleStrikeMaxDelay 1.75
SkyDome.lightingColor 0.7/0.75/0.8
weatherManager.lightningSFXDelay 0.8
weatherManager.lightningSFXName S_Thunder

You can improve your lightning effect afaik, load up one of the other lightning enabled sky textures in photoshop/WTV and look at the ALPHA layer. You'll see that the lightning patters follow the alpha layer afaik. So with som tweaking you could really improve your effect so it matches the image more rather than being a solid flash.

Re: [Request] Thunder strom skydome
There was a big storm yesterday so I took a picture of it, I have no idea how to make a skydome tho so I'm just posting that out in case you'd find it interesting, hoping it'll be helpful :

The original size of the picture is actually 4928x3264. I can send it through dropbox.

Re: [Request] Thunder strom skydome
I bet it would be a deal more useful if you took photos in all directions, including facing directly up, but still a nice pic, yes.
On a related note, we have a forecast on storms here in the next day or two, so I'll have my camera at the ready and hopefully i can get you some nice skydome, Rabbit

Thanks ! I used a Nikon D5100, however know that the colors were a bit modified (only to make it look a bit darker).CTRifle wrote:Dammnn what camera do you have? Nice pic

I thought about it, but I'd have to get outside and the rain was falling hardly so I didn't really want my camera to take some water in the face.lucky.BOY wrote:I bet it would be a deal more useful if you took photos in all directions, including facing directly up, but still a nice pic, yes.
