The cool thing about streaming to twitch is that twitch records it automatically and you can check your game-play afterwards and create highlights that you can upload to youtube.

Sure you wont be able to edit the footage but you won't have the issues of lack of space in your hard-drives or FPS drops because recording directly to your computer uses more resources.

I think that for specific events, it will be interesting to have a live stream. And in regards to ghosting I believe you can balance that a bit with the delay.

Specially if we get those new 2 man PR bots in 1.0 ;)

DayZ can have much more viewers, because you are playing alone mostly, so you can talk to your audience and so. In PR, you must communicate with your budies and cover your sector. You usually don't have enough time to check chat, and talk with audience.

Even though I do mostly agree with your comment, the streamers I watch are playing DayZ as a squad of 2 to 5 or 6 guys so they still need to communicate quite a bit. The difference is that DayZ is slow paced in comparison with PR which means that they do have alot of dull moments where they can focus more on the chat and their viewers.

PR does have a lot of its dull moments where you can communicate with players. Travel by air or APC and its a good 1 min ride to get a comment in or answer a question. A PR stream should probably a group affair with more than one person commentating if its possible so that any slack can be brought up by the other guy.

Yeah I suppose so, definitely not as much as DAYZ has but PR can have a few dull moments now and then.

Regular streamers usually have a few chat moderators that also help keep the viewers engaged in a conversation. But it is the streamer talking with his squad mates and with his viewers that is the most entertaining besides the actual game-play.

I watch League of Legends streams like scarra's, TheOddOne's and Wingsofdeathx's because, in addition to being professional players of the game, they're informative and entertaining.

Since PR has no e-sport side to it (no professional players), a PR streamer would have to be informative (people watching it to improve, answering questions during the loading screen, etc) or entertaining (it's fun to watch them, they're funny, don't rage, etc). I think a PR stream could be successful, especially if it received proper advertising and the streamer was charismatic enough to keep viewers watching.

TL;DR; I think a PR stream could work, it would just require the right circumstances to be successful.

Well I'm definitely not the right guy to stream as I play quite serious and I'm not that funny... I rarely rage though. I don't think I'm charismatic enough to keep the viewers entertained.

But in terms of being informative, some players called me PRWiki in the PRT :p

I guess I can be quite informative not only about PR content but also about specific tactics and tricks. I mostly watch Sacriel and Oshi7's streams of DAYZ and they are very entertaining but also sometimes informative as in, explaining their way of thinking while gaming.

I mostly stream to record without getting FPS drop. I can record full rounds and check them later or even upload highlights of them to both Twitch and Youtube without too much hassle. So for now, I'm streaming on a regular basis but not checking if I have any viewers since I don't think I will. Else, I would have to keep the chat open on the second screen to check for viewers and reply to them.

Anyway, I think from all the guys who record regularly and post their videos on this forum, perhaps a few should give streaming a try. Some of them can be quite entertaining and it could workout.

I stream PR quite alot actually over at ShaddyDaShadow usually with slorgs so feel free tune in whenever you need to feed that pr hunger :)

However after been streaming PR since like january though, We just now today experienced a case where we got Ghosted/streamsniped by some people on the other team, we actually even got good proof of them doing so , but sadly no admins seem to handle it like normal ghosting , so yes I guess it can be a kind of a pain to stream this.
It's sad actually that people have to do these things when all you want to do is just have some fun enyoy the game, talk with your viewers and promote the game.

That sucks but it's human nature to take advantage of a situation, if you haven't already you should set your stream to a 5 min delay, it won't fix all the problems but it may help.

Don't know if I've suggested this before or not but if there was a tab/sub section on the PR SPY website (http://www.realitymod.com/prspy/streams) it would help spread the popularity and generally help gain more viewership for the people actually wanting to stream. Just to have one place with all the streams and the # of total viewers seems like a good idea. Maybe like this

Image

or maybe just a forum subsection, just somewhere people could easily find these streamers and their links.

It does indeed suck and putting a delay isn't really an option for me since I like to interact and talk with my viewers, and also since PR is such a slow paced game, a delay wont help in the terms that a ghoster/stream sniper will still be able to see the map where all the FOB's and caches are located and will still put your team at a disadvantage.
I just don't really get why people do this, It wont make you a better player or a cooler person.. All it will do is piss other people off and ruin the fun for others.

Also this isn't just ruining the streamers and the people he plays with experience, it will ruin it for the team since they can easily find and take down all the FOB's, Caches etc.

So I think one thing people could do is make server rules about it and start dealing with it just like normal ghosting and as a bannable offense if you got proof of course, at least if people wanna help make this game grow which myself think is kind of needed.

I encountered the same problem, but mostly I dont care. I enjoy the challenge, and I feel like it'll only make me a better player.

On the other hand, finding fobs, caches etc. by streamsniping is really annoying.

Yes that is easily the worst part about it.

However what made this situation frustrating is because the stream snipers were using assets, we were literally trapped at a place for like 10 minutes because they had a tank and cas chopper hunting us and we couldn't lose them obviously since they knew exactly where we were if we tried to move, we had to wait that long until they finally gave up and we could move out and if you respawn they would just come back after you real fast.

I wouldn't really care if it was just some infantry dudes obviously since then theres more fair play and it's harder to tell it could even be stream sniping that way.
But in this situation we knew for sure we were being ghosted and had proof about it.

One can only hope people will grow up one day and start playing games the way they're meant to be played.

Nvidia's got some issues with bandicam. It used to have a huge fps drop. Mainly with SLi i believe. But they've fixed it. I'm using bandicam all the time and my graphic cards are 2 GTX670.

Works flawless, but sometimes after reviving i have to alt tab in order not to have a huge fps drop, which is rather strange. Bandicam said they gonna improve the performance on nvidia hardware even more.

One very good free program I suggest is MSI Afterburner

It's a video overclocking program, but has a video capture feature that's really good! Works with all cards, supports avi and mpg format, multi-thread supported, customized quality and frame-rate and it's flawless!

This program doesn't slow down the computer, and it automatically displays itself on the top-left corner by default

Search for it. It's Highly Recommended ;)

Gonna do it ;) No fps drop at all? I can hardly believe that though.

Voted the last one, I don't enjoy watching streams at all, I think it's super boring. I'd rather play myself, why would I watch someone else.

It can be good for non-PR-players though, to discover the game!

I've started streaming recently @ phlupple

The benefits of streaming are great but after only a few days it's starting to feel that the disadvantages weigh heavier.

When I've got a squad full of clanmates or close friends the banter can be excellent, but I doubt my ability to entertain viewers alone. Just chatting to a small number of people while playing is proving difficult and I'm not exactly the wittiest player in the community.

I really enjoy the concept of being watched live but the 'pressure' to entertain can take me off my game a bit, and I'm sure it's inevitable that a fair chunk of what I'm streaming won't be much fun to watch. I also expect some of my friends feel 'under the microscope' when our previously private Teamspeak chatter is being broadcast to the world.

I love the fact that streaming has a negligible impact on my framerate, but the footage is ultimately of lower quality than what I record with Bandicam. Streaming rounds is a lot less work than recording, editing and uploading them, but if the final product is inferior to what I'm uploading to YouTube (and is being watched by far less people) then it doesn't seem worth the commitment.

The ultimate disadvantage of streaming appears to be the potential ghosting that I subject my team to every time I broadcast. I don't like being blamed for other peoples' inability to play by the rules but that seems to be the way it goes. After all, I'm giving them the opportunity right?

I'll continue broadcasting at least for now, but in the long-run, I'm not sure PR streaming is worthwhile for me as a player OR an uploader.

Off topic posts removed. This thread is for opinions about Streams (and you're free to advertise your own), but don't accuse players of ghosting in here. If you have evidence of someone breaking server rules, take it to the server admins, but keep it out of discussion threads.
