I'm fine with the current system, the only frustrating thing is the non-ability to fire instantly right after jumping.

I think this was implemented to punish bunny hoppers at close range, or else this would become BF2 Vanilla.

-Having to use all of my stamina to jump over a literally 2 inch high obstacle and then get shot in the face because I couldn't sprint to cover;
-Not being able to jump for some seconds after going from prone to standing and then get shot 'cause I'm stuck next to a tiny wall while smashing my spacebar yelling "GO OVER THE FUCKING TINY WALL YOU'RE GETTING SHOT AT JUMP NOW ******* FFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-".
And having to wait before firing is too annoying. I'm like FUCKING FIRE YOU PUSSY! GOD DAMNIT I'M SHOT, I'M BLEEDING OUT, WELL DONE, WELL F*CKING DONE. /rage

It happens. You got some former soldiers here who try to say 'Wisen up ya newbie'. Well PR is about realism, so soldiers should be at-least acting like soldiers.

I am fine with the current sprint/jump system, but the swinging of the weapon after you jump like you are doing a mambo dance is f*cking annoying.

I mean, soldiers don't wobble on their weapons when that happens. Weapons are abit heavy, just the sway is annoying.

The running and that is fine to me, much better than vanilla bf2. Jumping Animations should be changed to jumping instead of running, and the whole thing based on deviation will be dramatically changed for good as it won't be broken in the release as far as I assume.

I want to see legs on BF2 Engine :@

Exactly what I was going to say. Same problem here, it's happened to me like a thousand times.

Shame jumping can't be removed and replaced with something similar to the ARMA vault feature.

More and more threads like this. Go play bf3 if you want to be able to jump all over the place while shooting.

I was thinking about this the other day and so I dug it up.

I think we should nerf the sprint system someway because of 2 reasons.

1. With the amount of sprint we have now maps that used to be HUGE now can be simply run across. Like in Reality war is about having the right people/equipment in the right place at the right time. In reality its brutal when this does not happen and PR use to have this quite effectively. Now in PR you can QRF from across the map and not always from a vehicle(a la Insurgency)

2. Now that the sprint is so effective trans is not needed as badly. Because almost no one on pup servers demand quality pilots and so overall pilot skill has diminshed.

The question is whether the current running speed should rather be an actual sprint or running*, and I always assumed it's the latter given how quickly sprinting in full gear drains you out. As for jumping, since bunnyhopping is forbidden or frowned upon everywhere, I don't see any harm in jumping draining way less stamina as it does now. As 40mm stated there's a little too many of these "there's a 2cm high sidewalk I cannot sprint onto so I have to jump, deplete my stamina below half and when I touch the ground I can't sprint to safety so somebody manages to hit me."

*in this case it means quick movement for an extended period of time at a pace that doesn't wear you out completely by the time you've reached your destination.

The current run system is ok but the loss of the stamina after a little jump over a tiny wall and the impossibility to shoot the ennemy just after the jump (that it doesn't mean "while the jump") piss me off quite enough. :-?

I'd love to see the removal of a stamina penalty when jumping because the bf2 engine is so fiddly and makes it easy to get caught on things. In reality you wouldn't need to jump to get over say a small wall as you could just step over it, but you have to jump in PR.

Well, take a look at what happens in vBF2 without a penalty for jumping... I really don't want to go back to bunny hop

How about we discuss a slower running/sprinting speed instead? Much more interesting.

I'm in two minds about it to be honest. For one, I like how it discourages the bunny-hopping, which is the most frustrating thing playing VBF. I also think it's good in that it teaches people not to use their sprint unless they're crossing roads in a city or traversing fields etc.

However, the issue with the tiny kerbs in roads and jumping over small obstacles reducing your ability to sprint by a quarter is a bit of a pain. I've had to scale 9 foot walls in full combat gear, and whilst it's tricky, i can still sprint for a fair distance or ready my weapon immediately after. And one also last little gripe, i don't get the point in the sprinting animation after jumping in the slightest. Isn't it enough to simply disable the trigger or ADS for a second?

Somebody's also mentioned this above but was told to keep it on topic, but i think my point is still relevant to the current topic. I think the current standard movement speed (WASD) is too slow, which makes people want to use their sprint more so they cover a larger ground in a shorter space of time, but then don't have any when they really need it. I must admit, i often find myself using sprint to power up hills and along roads, simply because i think the standard moving speed is too slow. I used to be able to jog along for hours on end a bit faster than the current movement speed, and i only had a basic pass on our fitness tests.

Is it possible to add a delay from standing to crouched and viceversa (like going from prone to crouched)? I mean you can crouch behind a wall then stand up and shoot a single shot, then crouch again and then again and again and again and the enemy will never hit you. I mean you can stand up, shoot and go crouched in less than half a second, it is fking anoying, I know you should have an MG suppressing but if you are moving it takes a really long time for the weapon to deploy and have almost no bullet spread, and by that time you lost half of your squad.

BTW I think sprint should be reduced a little or make they don't sprint too fast, in version 0.91 it was good for me.
I have no problem at all with the current jumping system

Well if there's still that little animation that prevents immediate shooting after jumping then I don't see how it will be much different from the current setup.
