I'd prefer if the player you were playing didn't act like you're sprinting after you jump. It's quite annoying, well to me it is.
I reckon Sprinting should be a little slower.

Yeah, it seems that if you are all the way against a wall or curb, I will have to repeatedly press the space bar just to get him to jump once. The sprint speed need slowed and the stamina lowered.labonte95 wrote:it sucks. i hate wasting half my sprint to jump up a goddamn 5 inch curb. i also hate when im getting engaged and i keep smashing the space bar to jump over a little barrier but my guy decides to just stay still until i die

Here's my suggestion on how the sprint/jumping stamina issue could be solved:
- Eliminate the delay to use your weapon and reduce the stamina decrease after jumping, instead replace it by implementing a very high and long lasting deviation penalty after jumping. i.e. Bullets going all over the screen to prevent using the system to bunny-hop.
- Decrease the speed of the sprint ability and increase the amount of stamina used while sprinting. At the same time, increase the time required for a soldier to fill up his sprint meter again. This would force infantry units to rely on vehicles and helicopters more, and discourage running through gun fire.

lol You guys should go play a game of vBF2. You'll be wishing you had PR sprint capability.

Just leave it all alone, it's fine the way it is. I think the original poster Smgunftw might understand how and why the system is the way it is if he saw it's evolution over the past 5 or more years. I'm sorry but if you started playing in the .95+ generation you haven't seen how bad the gameplay was altered in previous releases.
For one the jumping stamina decrease exists because you could still bunnyhop while being shot at making yourself an impossible target especially for someone shooting with semi auto.
The current delay after jumping iirc is the full 6 seconds, so you can hop basically twice defensively with basically no ability to return fire or run afterward. This value is fine, any further increase would feel downright clumsy and artificial. Already if you hop over anything obstacle you have to wait to shoot back. The example video in the original post shows this, he hops two times and is totally out of gas to run, he's lucky he had a tree there.
The same 6 second penalty was implemented for going prone currently because of a "dolphin diving" an old holdover from the vanilla BF2 days. Essentially you could jump+dive and your deviation would already be decreasing as you fell in the prone animation.
As for the run speed, this was probably the second biggest point of contention with the .8 release second to the rally point changes. It was greatly reduced for that release and it did not go over well at all. The general PR playerbase totally lost their minds over the sluggish running. I remember the threads now trying to calculate how much the player's gear weighed and how fast they could run to scale vs military fitness requirements. There are also unforseen consequences of slower movement over land on foot. Remember now with PRfalklands and PRvietnam there are plenty of hiking maps. There was a lot more grabbing jeeps and trucks and ditching them all over the maps then there is now. Players were spawning at FOBs and not even getting to the action before their SL and guys up front were getting shot. Roadkilling on urban maps was more common.
If the perpetually vocal player base at large is not complaining then the settings are in a good place. Trust me this is a Pandora's box you wouldn't want to reopen.

I do want to reopen the Pandora's box because its my opinion that there can be happy medium between getting to where you need to go and having to rely on Transport.'= wrote:H[=TangFiend;1903446'] Trust me this is a Pandora's box you wouldn't want to reopen.
Is not hiking the reality of Infantry no matter where?

Since soldiers use power enhancing drugs anyway i think sprint is fine as it is. Jumping takes way too much stamina tho.

Re: What do you guys think about the current sprint/jump system in PR?
I think jumping should NOT be tied to stamina because of the poor detections mechanics etc in game. You should be allowed 2 or 3 jumps every 10-15 seconds. If you screw the first jump up, you still got another one, while not really being able to bunny hop effectively.
What needs to be fixed is not sprint speed/longevity, but the speed of an aimed player. Soldiers with rifles shouldered move MUCH faster IRL. Right now a proper breach of a doorway is impossible because everyone cant move through fast enough with theyre sights up. I'm not talking a run speed at all. Just a nice tactical shuffle.

Try crouching while aiming. Reduces your size while giving you a nice speed boost, it's practically a combat glide (except with more bouncy sights)

i actully don't know...as said before i also haven't got the chance to play in PR 0.8 but agree it's kind of annoying when they are just able to over run you in CQB after loading on them a mag and get killed even by a knife...
