re: [Official] Binoculars Removal Feedback
The removal of binoculars is a very bad idea for me .
I do not understand players who are happy with their disappearance .
If they dont like bino , they can play CSS
Maps are big and beautiful to scrutinize before attacking.
What an idea !

I think its fine, maybe add binos for HAT, AA and other special kits, but regular riflemen and such kits should not get them. It took me a bit to get used to but I think overall it forces ppl to communicate more with SLs.

Agreed with the OP.
Removal of binoculars puts us in worse position due to graphics limitations compared to what we would have in real life without the binoculars. Binoculars don't give us un-realistic advantage in game but simply make our eyesight closer to what we would have IRL without binoculars.
Good point OP.

Removing the Binocs from all normal armys was the right choice!
-Lonewolfing is a lot harder
-Its a realistc change (only COs and NCOs getting binocs in all armys I know)
-Its better for gameplay (SM have to rely more on their SL = better for teamwork)
and what are the cons?
You cant spot everyone alone? You cant see the sniper trying to kill you? You cant see if thats a enemy or friendly in the bush?
Teamwork is the fix for everything here!

re: [Official] Binoculars Removal Feedback
This. I'm in favour of removing binoculars, but there has to be a form of compensation that mimics the human eye. Whether it's a slight zoom factor when aiming with your rifle, or having the option to focus your eye, something has to be done in order to bridge the HUGE gap there is currently between scoped and unscoped rifles.I know kit geometries. I can also tell friendly or foe by the weapon they're holding... except when it doesn't render and I just see empty hands until I zoom in with binocs. At a range where, in real life, you see in a lot more detail.
The desire to only make certain kits be able to observe distant targets makes sense. The key here is the distance - without binoculars, due to technical limitations, it's like the soldiers are very nearsighted. If binoculars are to be removed, then they should be replaced by a 2x zoom 'weapon' or some other mechanic that better approximates a standard issue human eyeball. Look at what's done with suppression - it's not like bullets hitting near you make your eyesight dramatically worse in real life. But it's an excellent approximation of the actual effects of suppression.

How? Binos give you an advantage over a scope on a gun? You know you cant shoot while holding the binos right?007.SirBond wrote:But them having binoculars gives them the edge in a firefight.

TBH I want Bino's but it's much more of a challenge without them which I like.

I have never been teamkilled this many times in such a short amount of time in my whole PR life. Seriously, just check the teamkill logs and you'll see how much teamkills have increased.
This is really really pissing me off so much and I know this has partially something to do with the removal of binos, on long-range fights.
So okay, we will have to check the map more which I have no problem with, but don't forget that many people on PR are quite derp, everybody isn't very experienced and pro teamplayer, this is why turning PR into a "rely-on-teamwork" game is quite clearly something that can't work with a minimum of common sense.

I meant to say on long-range fights, where nametags don't matter.

idk Im torn cause I understand where both sides are coming from, I really get the teamwork aspect, and also its great not having a hidden "9" item anymore... but I also understand the fact that it unrealistically handicaps players' eyesight... really its kindof a lessor of 2 evils, I just happen to prefer the first one (the less binos one)

Open your map then. If enemy is far away you have time to do that.nAyo wrote:I meant to say on long-range fights, where nametags don't matter.
Also my opinion we should have zoom instead of binos, but that zoom should not be instant, it should be like if you have a full stamina bar and if you were in ironsights long enough(like for 10-15 seconds) you can have a slight zoom to help you aim a bit more accurate.

Oh ye I obviously do it super often and never teamkill. But I'm talking about noobs that play the game and who are not experienced. The teamwork argument does only work if you play with exclusively very good people, but don't forget there are derps everywhere..Unhealed wrote:Open your map then. Well if we make the game even less tough there will be more derps, and those guys are killing you no matter what, even if they have huge zoom like in RO2.nAyo wrote:Oh ye I obviously do it super often and never teamkill. re: [Official] Binoculars Removal Feedback
I think removal of Binoculars is an improvement, but I think they shouldn't be removed from 95% of all kits - kits like Crewmen and Medic should probably still have them ... they are really needed when checking road up ahead as you're getting a Supply Truck back to the main base through the only road which may be contested. For medics it's much more usable to locate and identify bodies from a medium-close distance than playing marco polo with the downed teammates.

Never used binos that way and see no point in that, just use your map and communicate.karlis1989 wrote: For medics it's much more usable to locate and identify bodies from a medium-close distance than playing marco polo with the downed teammates.

I am strongly against the re-addition of binoculars to all or some kits. At this point, I like it as it is in 1.0 OB. Cheers

re: [Official] Binoculars Removal Feedback
Doesn't matter how much teamwork, it still makes for bad gameplay due to not everyone having scopes. Not being able to focus on something on medium-long ranges does not work. Everyone needs a scope if they want to see longer than 300 meters. And that exactly doesn't work with iron/reddot sighted kits such as medic. The most important kit of the squad.
Like said in the thread earlier, it might not be necessary to give out binoculars because unrealistic etc etc. But it is very much needed that you get a "zoom weapon" or something along these lines. You don't see as easily in a video game as you can in real life, thus not having some kind of zoom makes the game NOT realistic.
Unless ofcourse you want to turn PR into a more of a CQB fest than it already is.
