I was reading another post before and apparently this is intentional? Unfortunately my PC is quite old and I can only run PR with a smooth framerate when all settings are on low. No matter if I set the launcher to low video settings or if I even change my .con profile settings to low and make that read only the game always launches with everything enabled in high quality.
Is this a bug or is this an intentional attempt to make the game more equal?
If it is the second option, unfortunately I'm going to have to stop playing
It's intentional I'm afraid. The difference was too high between settings. it changed the way people played the game if they were on lower settings. Usually a simple memory upgrade and a bit fancier GPU make a great deal of performance boost. 1.0 is really worth a small investment IMO. But obviously that's not my decision . I hope you find a way to play!
There should be a change, its not fixed to high, but it is a bit better than on low afaik, to prevent lowering graphics to see less undergrowth and such, thus "exploiting."

Well in the launcher everything is shown to be low but they are obviously being changed. Draw distance I am fine with, it's always been maxed for me. Things like shadows and effect quality seemed to be boosted up which really gets me set back. Also textures (not sure which exact settings you guys want to keep to keep this consistency between players)
Nah, Mos, that's not it.
GRAF, this is because you are running a 32 bit operating system without the setting to allow more memory. It's done to prevent crashes on loading.
In this configuration, the graphics quality is set to 'High'.
1 is Low
2 is Medium
3 is High
All you have to change are these ones:
VideoSettings.setTerrainQuality 1
VideoSettings.setGeometryQuality 1
VideoSettings.setLightingQuality 1
VideoSettings.setDynamicLightingQuality 1
VideoSettings.setDynamicShadowsQuality 1
VideoSettings.setEffectsQuality 1
VideoSettings.setTextureQuality 1
VideoSettings.setTextureFilteringQuality 1
VideoSettings.setResolution 1920x1080@60Hz (Add your resolution on that line)
VideoSettings.setAntialiasing Off
VideoSettings.setViewDistanceScale 1
VideoSettings.setVideoOptionScheme 2
Haven't tested this out, but you can make a backup of video.con, then copy this code and paste it into the video.con file. Don't know if the menu will be upset by the change.

Tell me please. This will solve the problem in future updates or decision only permutation of the operating system?

Like I said bro I've tried this, even set all my profiles to read only and have all options at 1 and the game still launched with all settings at high. I'm baffled.
So theres no workaround for the forcement of high graphics? Even for the beta at least? I can't upgrade atm cause of tight money. This could be the end of my PR days...
I'm running Windows 7 64-bit and I've no problem with turning everything to low. The only difference in mine is the texture and effects options, which I have purposely set to medium.
Try deleting your cache and profile manually in the documents folder and setting all your options again, but optimize your shaders for the first time in a PR game and not a vanilla BF2 game.
My settings are on high but on game I think the textures and something else show on medium and/or low. I have tried everything that you guys said here but nothing worked.
I got 64bit windows 7 machine with enough power to run everything on high. Please help
