Connection to server issues

Post by YAK-R »

Hey fellas,

I'm having a very annoying issue of getting disconnected from servers. It simply says connection to server has been lost.

When i do DC from the game, there's no text on my screen saying "problem with your connnection" It just freezes and boots me to the server screen.

I know i haven't lost connection because i'm running a ping test/talking on mumble etc

There doesn't seem to be a pattern, can happen 2 minutes into a server, or 2 hours into a server.

I've tried forwarding ports, reinstalling PB using pbvcs or whatever it's called, changing my punk buster services to restart.

I assume it's a router issue, but i have no idea how to fix it :( - the router is a NETGEAR WNDR3700

Any ideas?

I'm getting this exact issue, it's really been preventing me from playing. I have a Linksys E2500, I have tried everything router-side and with Punkbuster, still locks up and kicks me out.

Are you connecting wirelessly or via ethernet?

If via wireless, please try via an ethernet cable and verify the issue persists (iirc BF2 doesn't play nice with wireless)

Wired, DMZ'd, 50/10 connection. Its really weird because it locks up SUDDENLY and then just sends me to the menu like a punkbuster kick.

Are you able to rule out your router / router settings using a friends router? Take your machine to a friends house to rule out your network connection?

It appears im facing the same problem that he is.

I've changed my connection from wirless to ethernet over power.

I'll have a test and see how that goes.

EDIT: Nope - No luck on EoP.

I'll try DMZing my connection and see what happens.

I might have found the issue. I disabled Ping filtering on my router and I played a few rounds, no disconnects. If you have any Ping filtering/DDoS protection feature on your router check it out and see if disabling it fixes the problem.

DMZing did nothing, swapping to EoP did nothing...

I'm just going to buy another router and see what happens. I'm so over all this rubbish, i just want to play PR :(

I can't find an option about ping filtering in my settings.. ah well

It's too late, i bought a new router, and no longer have any issues.

My old setup was some telstra issued technicolor router - bridged to my netgear WNDR thingo

.. Fixed it by throwing that shit out.
