Map Bug in Ramiel (Check similar locations)

Post by DigitalRicky »

Noticed this, not sure if you could see enemies behind the buildings.

Haven't tested in other similar locations with the same building.

Basically you just back up into that little garage thing wall and just strafe to the side.

Thanks. This is due to an occlusion mesh that improves performance by removing things that the computer thinks you can't see. Each building has it's own mesh and we can fix this building's mesh now that we know about the bug. :)

This same thing happens on marlin, when you rope up on the northwestern hotel balconies and look at the city from the side of the buildings. Almost all the buildings disappear. Can get screenshots if needed.

If you could, that would help us fix it faster. :)

Will do. Going to edit them into this post later today.

Couldn't make a local so silly did it.

Okay, thanks guys. I'll let Psyrus know. He's the one who fixes the occlusion meshes, and I imagine he didn't think you'd be able to get on a balcony. :)

Hey guys, yeah sorry about that. The first one is just sloppy work on my part, I needed to push that face back a little so it didn't protrude from the doorway.

As for the hotel, as AFsoccer says, I wasn't expecting people in those balconies (I actually thought the collision mesh didn't allow people in there) and as such maximized the OCC mesh so it would block as much as possible. Unfortunately yeah, from the balcony it does yield that result.

On the plus side, you can see how effective the OCC meshes are at saving you processing power :) . If it wasn't there, you'd be rendering all those buildings unnecessarily

What else does it remove? Seems on that little animation that it only removes buildings, why not trees and other garbage as well?
